Poll: Support for Trump impeachment rises

By Steven Shepard

05/31/2017 06:18 AM EDT

An increasing percentage of voters want Congress to impeach President Donald Trump — even if they don't think Trump has committed the “high crimes and misdemeanors” the Constitution requires.

Forty-three percent of voters want Congress to begin impeachment proceedings, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, up from 38 percent last week.

"If President Trump was hoping his foreign trip would shift the conversation away from scandals, he may be out of luck," said Morning Consult Co-Founder and Chief Research Officer Kyle Dropp. "Over the last week, support for beginning impeachment proceedings among voters rose from 38 percent to 43 percent."

For the Poll questions.

Who has time to answer all those questions?

Remember when the Dem mantra was 'this doesn't rise to the level of impeachment' during the Clinton scandal?  Forget the disgusting visual that brings, given the scandal subject matter.  He committed and suborned perjury - then got away with it.  Nothing even close to criminal has been demonstrated in this current case.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

Sounds like the media is trying to get everyone to warm to the idea of impeachment as an acceptable alternative to winning an election.

Who needs high crimes or misdemeanors?

Sounds more like the media is trying to get everyone to warm to the idea of impeachment as an acceptable punishment for winning an election a candidate was predicted to lose.

Much of the media is acting in concert with the democrat party, to disable Trump and the Republican agenda.

Slow it down, push it out of the news, do ANYTHING to burn up 1.5 and 3.5 years.

Meanwhile the Republicans are starving the children, depriving them of their healthy non-obesity lunches and free breakfasts, keeping people from vital health care, and a host of other high crimes and misdemeanors.

And they are making a few Republicans get weak in their knees.

I will admit to a tendency to nitpick at polling methodologies, but it does make me a tad skeptical to see that this poll had a greater sample of Democrat men than Republican men. That might be true in San Francisco or Manhattan, but in damn few other places in America. Also oversampled, demographically and as a percentage of registered voters: women and minorities.

The leading nature of the inquiry also served to "push" the desired response. A President cannot be impeached except for Constitutionally-defined reasons, loosely stated as they are. So what is the point of asking, other than to attempt to validate the media's obsessive hatred for the President?

In sum, it is the usual liberal media crapola, masquerading as "news".
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Polutico pushing a Polutico poll using Polutico questions as news.

I'll pass on believing a word of it.

As most here at TBR know by now, I am not even considered for the long list of a cheerleader positions for Trump, but this is just silly. Unless Trump is found to do something other than what we have seen as evidence so far, there is not a case for impeachment. He may at a future time give it to them, but right now it is just feet stomping on the part of goofy liberals who think they are the voice of America who knows best for the rest of us undesirables.

It's called prepping the battlefield.

IOWs, they are preparing the population in advance of what they intend to do.

The GOP has already ceded any semblance of the Rule of Law during the last regime, and they are not called the Stupid Party without cause.  There's enough Democrats now in the GOP that the Leftist agenda can pretty much go forward no matter who it is that is running the show in the Executive.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Good points ... they are prepping the battlefield, only the GOP doesn't seem to know it.

Support for Trump impeachment rises

Quote
The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll included interviews with 1,991 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

There are currently around 146,000,000 registered voters in the U.S..
1,991 is 0.00136369863% of 146,000,000.

What a steaming pile.
And all 1,991 of the interviewees were in red counties, too, I suppose. /s

Agree 100%.

More to the point: if we start impeaching the President because we don't agree with his policies, we'll have a Parliamentary system where Congress essentially decides who is the President, not the people.

You'll have a chance to "impeach" Trump in 2020.

I wonder if these folks know that: impeachment != conviction and that Pence will be President if Trump is impeached.

I just binge watched the 5th season of "House of Cards" on Netflix.

(It was the worst season imho).

They threw around impeachment like it was the newest thing since sliced bread.

And all the Nixon references!

And sadly, the show jumped the shark.
