I think you may missed the point. It is not about what religion she is, or is not. It is about having a Catholic in the White House for the first time since 1963. It is just an interesting milestone, that's all.

Not necessarily. One with logic would conclude that Melania, as Trump's wife and life partner, would have much more sway over him than any mere WH employee would have. If she is a practicing Catholic... she might have some impact on some of his stances re: morality and especially concerning abortion issues. Hope springs, anyway.
