We tried it here. Our problem was we don't have a 2nd page where you can't see it every time it is posted on.
Every time it was posted on it would show on the forum page..which seemed to draw members to and then they complained because it was on the forum...if I ever get another page I might try it again.
You can put individual boards on ignore, right? So, if it went to the backroom or woodshed or whatever, you wouldn't see it anymore?
Yes, it looks like a person can choose to ignore an entire board and it says that:
"This page lets you ignore particular boards. When a board is ignored, the new post indicator will not show up on the board index. New posts will not show up using the "unread post" search link (when searching it will not look in those boards) however, ignored boards will still appear on the board index and upon entering will show which topics have new posts. When using the "unread replies" link, new posts in an ignored board will still be shown."I think this is excellent news, as it affords each INDIVIDUAL the responsibility to ignore and not see thread brawls that get moved down to a private room/section/page if they do not want to see fights.
And again, we made good use of stripping replies that were contentious out of otherwise productive threads and sent the combatants to their own thread that was linked to the main OP that began the fight - so they could continue brawling there, while the rest could continue discussing the OP.
Looks like you already have what you would need to deal with that issue. It just puts a bit more work on you mods to handle, but it did help a little on the forum I used to mod to keep viable topics clean of sniping and backbiting - usually always by agenda-pushers and trolls.
