Trump floats canceling White House press briefings
By Max Greenwood - 05/12/17 08:17 AM EDT

President Trump defended on Friday morning the slew of contradictions in the White House's account of FBI Director James Comey's firing, suggesting he might cancel "all future 'press briefings'" in the name of accuracy.

"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!" Trump tweeted.

Let's be realistic and consider the possible.

Before cancelling the press briefings, President Trump should try cancelling the tweets.

But as Suppressed suggests,  let's not get all hung up on the impossible.

Perhaps the solution is to make clear that the press briefings are limited to actions taken by the Administration,  not Trump's tweets.   That is, make clear that the tweets represent personal thoughts of the man, and not statements of the President with any official ramifications.   Let Trump and Trump alone answer for his tweets, not his press secretary.

That's right.

Actually, I would support getting rid of daily press briefings. Instead, the White House could release official statements, or notes, whenever necessary.

These press briefings are boorish. The press only asks questions that support the narrative they want. They interrupt and are rude. They don't accept answers they don't like. They turn the whole thing into a soundbite show by taking responses out of context.

This has been going on for decades. Time to end the show. Freedom of the press doesn't mean playing their game every day.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Trump Suggests Canceling Press Briefings ‘For The Sake Of Accuracy’

Posted By Kaitlan Collins On 8:28 AM 05/12/2017

Just hours after Donald Trump contradicted previous White House explanations for why he fired FBI Director James Comey, he suggested canceling press briefings “for the sake of accuracy.”

In a series of tweets Friday, the president said “it is not possible” for his communications team “to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!” He floated the idea of handing out pre-written statements to reporters instead.

It's the truth to him.  I seriously don't think he knows he's lying....it's just who he is.  Similar to Bill Clinton.......

If the WH press corps has questions ... submit them in writing and receive the answers in kind.  Problem solved.

Nowhere is it cast in stone that any White House has to give the press corps a world stage for their tantrums.

I haven't had any coffee yet but Trump's tweets are way embarrassing and somewhat informing... and that, in itself, is a little scary.

Not if he made them himself and then not until the next day.
