Gov't in healthcare via medicare and private insurance brought in huge research dollars and developed life saving treatments we never had 50 years ago.

The same basic principle happened during war. Triage , trauma surgery techniques, surgery tools  we know of today were nearly all developed on the battlefield.

Most large US companies get their ideas or research via US Universities  which had their research paid via the US gov't. It may not be direct. A Uni researcher takes what he learned at the UNI with gov't paid grants and takes it private. It happens every day

Nearly all new cutting edge research is from gov't paid grants at UNI's.

Much of what they developed trickled down from university research paid by gov't grants. They hired the researchers at the UNi's or used the patents and developed it further.  Did the US gov't build their companies. No, and  Yes, I said NO.

Texas Instruments years ago said they got all their research from the space program and developed it further or made it better.

Every western developed country you want to live in  goes by this model-gov't funded research.

The medicine technology that keeps you or your family alive was most likely originally  developed by the National Institute of health (Which most medical drug companies look to for their early research)

Nationalized health care had nothing to do with that change in power. It had everything to do with an unpopular President poorly running an unpopular war. BTW Steve Jobs pushed for more US grant money and said we were being left behind by other countries who were increasing grant money. Is he a communist?

MY local county gave a new  business the land, and no taxes for 25 year if they would build in our county and create 800 high paying jobs instead of going elsewhere.  Are they communist?
