Unification Media Group has recently acquired exclusive footage filmed inside North Korea. The footage offers a rare glimpse into two North Korean markets in North Hamgyong’s Chongjin City - Sunam Market and Pohang Market. The videos give viewers an opportunity to witness firsthand the growing marketization occurring within North Korea. In the footage, the presence of privately-run stores such as bathhouses and privately-run taxis and trucks can be seen. I saw a documentary recently (on PBS, I believe) and was surprised to see so much near-capitalism in North Korea. Looks like you can't keep the entrepreneurial spirit down. There are many there who truly want to be free and are well aware of the shortcomings of Dear Leader and his posse of medal-laden fools.
