Baltimore’s mayor asked the FBI to send in reinforcements Wednesday to help the city get its murders under control.

Mayor Catherine Pugh, speaking at a news conference, explained she went to the FBI’s Baltimore office for extra agents to join with police officers in combating a skyrocketing murder count, reports CNN.

“Murder is out of control. There are too many guns on the streets. We’re looking for all the help we can get,” Pugh said.

No.  If murder is out of control, it's because there are too many people on the street who see murder as an acceptable way of dealing with disputes.  Control them and the number of guns "on the streets" becomes largely irrelevant.

I'm puzzled why so many Christians insist on adopting the same victim meme as the left.   There is no "war" on Christianity (at least not in this country;  I'll grant you things aren't so great for the faithful in, say, Egypt and Syria).   To inflate peaceful protests like this as "war" on Christians comes across as whining.   Free speech is the value that must be defended, whether exercised by Anne Coulter or gay students at SPU.

The innocents -- as opposed to the criminals being offed by other gang-bangers -- deserve our sympathy.  But the truth is that sending a bunch of federal assets to Baltimore is just subsidizing stupidity/incompetence/leftism.  Baltimore needs to get its own house, including its own police department, in order.  And if the anti-police ideology of the people running the city makes that impossible, then it is up to the people of the city themselves to change that.

I don't disagree.  But rangerrebew effectively told the victims of crime in Baltimore to "eat sh#t".    That's what I was reacting to.   I express no opinion whether federal assistance is warranted in Baltimore;  I note that NYC has as leftist a mayor as anyone in the country (Comrade Bill), yet its crime still keeps going down.   I suspect that Baltimore's problems are peculiar to Baltimore.  But that doesn't excuse one telling the victims of such crime to "eat sh#t".
