A former secretary of defense took issue with President Donald Trump's statement that the U.S. military was "my military."
Panetta, who served as secretary of defense under President Barack Obama, made the comment Thursday on MSNBC's "Hardball."
"When it comes to the military, the military belongs to the country. Our defense system belongs to the country. It's not the president's military, it's the military of the United States of America," Panetta said.
Panetta noted that Trump is in charge of the military, but questioned his word choice.
