Constitutional Conservatism is irrelevant?

Seriously...what is your screen name over at DU?

Of course constitutional conservatism isn't irrelevant - unless you choose it to be.   THE GOP CAN PASS CONSERVATIVE LEGISLATION IF IT IS PREPARED TO COMPROMISE WITH CENTRIST REPUBLICANS.   If conservatives won't do that, their irrelevancy will be of their own making.

Think, bonehead, think.   I don't support a carbon tax.   The GOP has the opportunity, by staying united,  of advancing conservatism by rendering liberalism irrelevant.   But the Freedom Caucus doesn't want unity.  It wants ideological purity even if it means, for example, that the ACA survives.   That's nuts -  and Trump doesn't have the patience to abide such insanity.   He'll partner with Dems,  and gain their support by giving them some of what they want.  Such as a carbon tax.

If it comes to that, blame yourselves, conservatives, for insisting on perfection at the cost of the good.

I want to advance conservatism.  The Freedom Caucus is teaparty conservative.  If Trump isn't then he won't receive my support.  I will happily accept movement toward conservatism, but a carbon tax, which Trump appears to support, regardless of what you believe, I will oppose.  It. Is. Liberalism.

I look forward to Trump proving me wrong by opposing a carbon tax.  We'll see. ...

A little wisdom about those that think compromise is the way to go:

Compromise is the cowards way out...it's the easy left instead of the hard right.  Doesn't take much courage or spine to compromise.

So you have no problem with Trump picking up on increasing the National Debt past what Bush and Obama did...and using Obama's strong armed tactics to get what he wants  Got it.

Where's the winning?  A handful of EO's and a truck load of missteps infighting and miscues.  No significant legislation and now he's back tracking on everything his minions told us were reasons to vote for him.  He's attacked Conservatives and is openly playing footsie with the Dems.

Not sure what your definition of a "win" is...but that doesn't look like a win to most normal people.

The pro-life cause being one of my most important issues, Trump has been near perfect in this area. While, the Democrats push abortion to the max, have former planned parenthood executives on their staff.  One could go on but I think that's enough. We don't know how Gorsuch will act but we have a good idea, Trump has signed legislation to enable states to defund Planned Parenthood. The Vice President is probably the biggest pro-lifer with accomplishments to match ever on a winning GOP ticket. Admittedly, that's a bit hard to judge.
