A trio of motions aimed at protecting undocumented immigrants and others threatened with deportation, including putting $1 million into a legal defense fund, are scheduled to be voted on Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
City and county officials first proposed the ideas late last year in response to President Donald Trump’s pre-election remarks about deporting people who live in the country illegally. Los Angeles city and county leaders garnered national headlines when they unveiled plans to contribute $5 million to the proposed $10 million fund, with local nonprofit organizations providing the rest.
