Turkey Hopes U.S. Acts Militarily in Syria, Says Would Offer Help
by Naharnet Newsdesk
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he hopes U.S. President Donald Trump will take military action in Syria after this week's chemical attack.

Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as reacting to news reports Thursday that Trump was mulling military action after the assault in the northern Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun, which killed more than 80 people.

I don't blame people for being skeptical about all of this.  We will see.

Yeah, right. Turkey will "help" with intel that turns out to make Kurds into targets.

Turkey though, does apparently hate Assad as well; some reading on the situation would be that Assad kills Sunnis, that's been a theory since the war began, to commit a kind of genocide against the Sunnis to make Syria a Shiite State. I don't know if I believe that but there is info on it.

King Abdullah of Jordan just met with Trump, Jordan is a Sunni nation so, I wouldn't underestimate that either.

I heard Ollie North on the radio the other, interesting should one be able to hear his comment.

Its simple. The record for knee-jerk military interventions for humanitarian purposes is not good.

People get hurt, things usually get worse.

This could be the start of dividing Syria up; into protected zones and so on.  I don't think we will see something like a US airstrike on Damascus. Someone said maybe we would strike their air force. I guess that is possible.  Those countries like Turkey and Saudi Arabia and maybe even Egypt and Jordan might be involved.

The whole area is a tar baby.
There's nothing to be "won" there.

In a place like Syria, insofar as The West and its war with islam is concerned, it matters little who wins.

This sect of islam, that one, or another one -- the winners will be muslims.
Some will just be more... (choke)... "devout" than others.

They'll all remain under the control of the same "leader".
And he's nobody we can depose, because he died 1400 years ago.
But he's left his book of instructions -- his war plan -- for all of them to follow.
And the more closely they follow it, the greater the danger to The West.

Let the Syrians rein destruction down upon themselves.
Let them use whatever weapons they wish.
Poison gas -- should we really care?
(That's intended to be a serious question).

What's that saying, about how when your enemy is in the process of destroying himself, that's it best not to intervene?

Let them further reduce themselves from the surface population.

(I'm a grim pragmatist. Sorry if you don't like this post)

Another thought:
If we're going to line up against Assad, and want to get this over quickly, why not just send out a drone or two and ...?

Added question:
Once you take him out, who ya gonna get to replace him?
