@Weird Tolkienish Figure

The issue is Comey.   He has been compromised and needs to be replaced.

Nope, the issue is integrity in government and neither side has integrity.

I suspect it's not so much "lying," in the planned, scheming Clintonian sense, than it is "making things up," in the 5th-grade sense.

Oh he's a liar alright but like the democrats, he has the advantage of blind supporters who are perfectly OK with his lying.

He can get away with lying to the press and lying to the people but in the end its the on the record official lying that will take him down. In a sense it will be the fault of his own supporters because their complicity has only served to encourage him.

They knew he was a dishonest and immoral man all along. Its the whole reason they promised that they would keep him in line. Obviously keeping him in line gave way to making excuses and calling all opposition "liberals and democrats".

Trump made an unfounded accusation without evidence. It's up to him to prove the charges.

He has been uncontrolled since he physically attacked his music teacher when he was in the fifth grade.  He left the physical attacking and went to verbal destruction of others with lies and has done that all his adult life, the record is there, and he won't stop lying and destroying others, plus he is vindictive and will keep trying to destroy someone for years.  There has been chaos every day since he took office and it will continue every day for the next four years.  His life record is there and it is folly to think he would change - instead he will dig in to prove to himself he is better than anyone on earth - he will never be able to prove that to himself since (it is my opinion) he has felt inadequate all his life.

Someone should insist, yea, make him, stop twitting.  He will bring himself totally down if he does not stop.  At some point, it will be an impeachable offense that can't be talked away, can't be fixed, and the Republicans will have to do it.  Don't start with the , "You hate him."  The truth is, he hates himself.

Not when the same guy admitted that Trump's opponent in the election was guilty as hell, yet he refused to 'go after' her and instead, let her off the hook....as he knew damned well that Obama's Department of Injustice would never prosecute.  Comey has already identified himself as a partisan whore.  The only thing yet to be determined is his price.

He's probably pretty cheap.

I'm sure that everyone in the close Trump circle is praying (if they pray) that Trump stop tweeting and shut up but apparently, there is no way to stop him.

I'm trying very hard to cut him some slack because I hate his enemies so much more than I hate him ...but he makes it hard.

The whole wiretapping thing was a self inflicted wound. Trump shoots his mouth off and then everyone under him has to scramble to deal with it. To explain what he really meant, etc. The solution is for Trump to shut up and put together a reasoned position before opening his mouth. I don't think he's capable of that, and it has been demonstrated over and over again. In his view it got this far, why stop now... I expect 4 years of chaos if he makes it that far.

I'll add, that when his underlings are forced to defend the indefensible they bury their credibility along with his.

IMO Trump is guilty of nothing more than expressing himself in the kind of terms the average guy would - 'Obama wiretapped me' - when a man in his position should be far more judicious with his words.

We already know the DOJ and several other agencies sought and received permission to surveil elements within the Trump campaign.

Whether or not it can be proven that Obama did the ordering (though it'll probably never be proven its a very good bet he personally knew, and it wouldn't be the first time an administration were referred to simply by the name of it's president) and that Trump personally was 'wiretapped' Mission Impossible style is just media subterfuge.

He may very well bring himself down but unless he actually threatens physical harm I don't see any impeachable offense through tweeting.

Although I agree with your larger point that he needs to stop.

I don't think this is an example of Trump lying.  I think he has a lot of confidence in his own opinions, and shoots from the hip before he knows all the details.  Frequently that works out for him.  This time - maybe not.

I totally agree with you.  This is just Trump ...he heard something, he believed it, he tweeted.

People are either gonna start ignoring that or getting all het up about it.

He's not an "average guy". He's the most powerful man in the world and with that go great responsibilities. Dan Rather's fake but accurate is not a suitable standard.

It seems it's even becoming a joke with foreign heads of state.

Iraqi prime minister jokes with Trump about wiretaps

By Jordan Fabian - 03/20/17 03:35 PM EDT

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Monday joked with President Trump about his explosive wiretapping allegation during their first-ever White House meeting.

After reporters shouted questions about wiretaps, Abadi grabbed Trump's arm and said, "We had nothing to do with the wiretap.”

Trump did not respond to Abadi, nor did he answer the journalists' questions.

Rush.....with all the leaks how come no real evidence has ever been leaked.

Exactly.  If they had anything, it would already be 'out there'.  They got nothing.

You mean like how he said Cruz' dad was involved with Kennedy's assassination? The list of these sort of things is long... He spews crap because it works for him. Because it usually injures his opponents and that's all that matters to him. His need to win exceeds the need for truth.

No, the Cruz' dad thing was an outright lie, in my opinion.  He crossed the line big-time there.

That's one of many problems with being disinterested in facts and details and relying on one's self to be the arbiter of truth - you will inevitably cross the line and go into outright lying.

Well I think in his mind he was just repeating what was in the Inquirer... He loves the "some people are saying ... but I'm not saying ..." line to say it without "saying it"... And when someone has little or no regard for the truth because it suits their purposes at the time, I don't understand why some people think he'll just stop doing it or that he has any credibility left.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
