Just heard his soundbyte on talk radio and he basically said we need the media to hold people 'like him' accountable. Like.... when Dan Rather held him accountable for having been AWOL...? Bush is another sellout. I voted for him twice. He let us down, just as his father did.
@XenaLee That's pretty much where I am, too. I was a political naif in 2000---just starting to get interested in politics. I thought GW was a solid conservative and I was happy to vote for him at the time, and again in 2004. I've learned since then, however. There really isn't any denying that he's an open borders guy...man, I hated the way he cozied up to Vincenze Fox. And then, of course, there he was in 2008---"I've abandoned free market principles to save the free market."
I do appreciate W's work with veterans, and I'm glad he was in the Oval Office on 9-11 instead of, God help us, Al Gore. But I'm not a fan.
During the campaign, he remarked that he just doesn't like Ted Cruz. Well, of course not. Cruz was solicitor general of Texas when Bush, as president, stepped in and tried to overturn the death penalty for Jose Medellin. Bush did so at the request of the "World Court."
Medellin had been convicted for the rapes and murders of two young girls in Texas. He was a member of the gang which raped the girls every way a woman can BE raped for over an hour. After that, one of the girls was strangled with a belt, which broke, so they finished the job with shoelaces. The other girl was also choked with the laces. One of them had her teeth knocked out before she died, and both of them had their necks stomped to make sure they were dead.
Cruz argued before the Supreme Court that the president had no right to intervene, and won.
Before I read about that case, I always thought Bush was a decent man, but what kind of man tries to save such a person in order to please some foreigners? I mean, seriously, what am I supposed to think? Can you imagine how the parents of those girls must have felt at the time?
As for the Bush women, they're all pro-abortion, which is enough said, IMO. I have no use for that.
