DL good to see you posting. It has been some time.

Good to see you as well.

Anything that guts or reduces ObamaCare subsidies and regulations would be good.

This thing is a no brainer.   Repeal it.   Do that first.   Don't talk about "replace"  till you've already done what you have said you would.

That they are talking about "replacing" it,  makes it smell like a back room deal going on.   It stinks.  They are planning some sort of double cross.

Very persuasive.  I just hope they let the exchanges implode, even if the needy have to go to medicaid.

Rubio set up the funding for the exchanges to be capped and I hope these caps are not lifted.

He is meeting with business leaders all the time .  Imploding ObamaCare means that insurance companies can now write COST EFFECTIVE plans that people can afford, with minimal and eventually no subsidies.

We need to be calling our congressmen now to buck Trump, Cruz and Mike Lee up.

Nice back peddle away from your assertion/dream/desire I quoted and commented on.

Not at all. Call your congressmen to vote for the most effective repeal of Obamacare.

Trump seems to be starving the taxes that feed Obamacare.  Line 61 , 1040.

I'm still waiting for the GOP to educate the people about the fact we are not a Democracy.
Yeah. You'd think Republicans could get that part right.

Federal government funded healthcare opens the door to controlling every aspect of our lives because of "public cost". That won't apply to those who transfer AIDS via one pointy ended device or another, but it will apply to how you dress to ride a motorcycle, what firearm you can own (if any), what you eat, drink or smear on your belly button.
There will be a 'compelling public interest' in every aspect of your (non-protected class) life, because it will cost that public money.

People will not only approve, they will INSIST, especially when the cooked books numbers come out deciding what costs what.

I have seen how those numbers got cooked in a study of the public cost of motorcycle trauma, which concluded that the cost would be eliminated by wearing helmets, even though it never determined how many of the study group had helmets on, nor how much of the cost was from head trauma, and it multiplied the costs seen in a four state trauma unit (after adding in a host of intangible costs) by 50 instead of 12.5.

If this comes to pass, freedom, even the vestiges we know, will be gone by popular demand.
Freedom isn't free, and people will gripe about every dime (unless our troops are paying the price).

We are much closer to eliminating this or rolling it back than we have been in the last eight years.

We may not have this chance again in 2 or four years.

If the Pubs don't repeal obamacare after giving them majorities in the House, Senate and Presidency what good are they?

I might as well vote 3rd party and stop contributing to Pubs.

I didn't vote for Trump in part because I didn't believe he would do what he said he would do. Now I'm seeing the Pubs in Congress hesitate to do the right thing. No point in ever supporting any of them again if they won't represent me on this issue.

We need to call congress.  I may call my dem rep to vote for the block grant in lieu of total repeal.

Total repeal would probably be best, until the new low reg, low cost plans come we could use medicaid to plug the gaps...

You're right about using medicaid, but block grant the money to the states and reduce the amount each year by a fixed percentage. As it stands now 67% of obamacare sign ups are in medicaid. These people of course are now discovering that they can't go to any teaching or research hospitals, but instead only find lower end clinics and county hospitals accept their coverage. Before obamacare this same block of people, who didn't have coverage, used to go to county hospitals and lower end clinics. Nothing has changed as far as health care.

There are so many free market solutions it drives me crazy that they won't try any of them. I do a portion of my business in Central America. One thing I've encountered that is pretty good is hospital memberships. You sign up at a hospital and all your medical needs are taken care of by that hospital. The premiums are very low, but you have to sign up when your less than 45. The other thing I've found is the cost for service is 20-25% the cost here.

I agree, and it needs to be done. I know I haven't read that whole monstrosity--far from it, and God and the Democrats only really know what's in there. Get rid of it. You don't have to know what's in it to repeal it.

Do I need to show you...again...where he stated this is his goal?

The problem with you is that you have apparently read and remembered everything ever said or done.

It's irritating.

I do remember Trump vowing not to leave people dying in the street and I also remember warning people that Trump would continue Obamacare but name it Trumpcare..

But that was back when I was fighting against nominating Trump.  I still can't believe I lost.

But now, I'm trying to defend Trump...at least until he makes a serious mistake unrelated to gauche behavior such as ordering well-done steak and eating it with ketchup.

This attempt is made more difficult by the trumpers here who view every comment made under the microscope of 'is it totally favorable to Trump'.  If it isn't, I can expect a stern warning from@Right in Virginia or others in her camp.

I can try hard to like Trump or at least give him a break but his supporters are another story.

Trump never said single payer.  Pelley from CBS was trying to put words in Trump's mouth.

Right now people do not die in the streets because of Emergency room triage.

Trump has always wanted competition across state lines and lowering mandated coverage as part of any plan to reduce costs.  More controversially, he wants tough negotiations with drug companies-- but someone has to pay the costs of more drug research.

Sure he does.  Take term life insurance.  A few fierce competitors in that space.  I know, we looked at it from a product standpoint when I worked at The Equitable.

Competition here is across state lines.  Very tough to break through to the underwriting skills that the entrenched competitors have.
