Pass the repeal Obama vetoed... Or do they not want us to know that whole effort was Kabuki theater?
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

There is a new WSJ article out that will dare Republicans to vote against repeal.

That won't happen because the states hate interstate commerce and love the fact that they can tie up the insurance industry and carve out their own little fiefdoms.  And the insurers love it because it means that once they get a lock on a state, and a lock on the state insurance regulators - known as regulatory capture - they can keep out all competition.

What is the federalism argument for why the federal government should step in and violate the states' jurisdiction?

It's the voters of these states who are being irresponsible, not pressuring their state governments to play well with others.

We already know the entire 'repeal and replace', 'tear it out root and branch' was nothing but Kabuki Theater.

Just as it is today.

No reason to be so cynical.  ObamaCare is going to be defunded by getting rid of line 61 in 1040.

If the funding is starved by Trump or Congress--- that will make it harder to move to single payer.

And that cant happen until at least 2020, so we have a window of opportunity on which to act.

They ALREADY had chances to Defund it.  They REFUSED.  They FULLY FUNDED Obamacare each and every time the budget was up.

Then not just a month ago - we were told by the GOP leadership that ObamaCare is here to stay, and that defunding it is not a possibility.

Today it is being reported that the whole 'repeal' deal is Kabuki theater - because the GOP leadership thinks that their rank and file has 'no guts' to repeal ObamaCare - which means McConnell is working behind the scenes to make sure any real defund effort is killed outright before it even gets off the ground.

I think you hope for a fairy tale that ObamaCare is going to be repealed in any fashion, shape or form.

The GOP and Trump are on the same path to Single Payer that the Democrats put the government beast upon.

No stopping it now, because they do not want to stop it.

There is no sign of single payer and doubt it could happen until at least 2020.

Again, no need to be so cynical.  Even if the block grant pathway happens, that could be the gateway to isolating high 'risk pools' , eliminating most and eventually all taxes and killing subsidies etc.

Also,  the  Republicans need to educate on the funding gap with more years of taxes having been collected versus benefits.

Defunding it is what Ted Cruz called Mitch McConnell a liar over almost 2 years ago. In reality that was probably our last chance. That was before Donald Trump decided to kiss the turtle's butt and attack Ted Cruz for exposing the lie to the American people.

Obamacare is now as permanent as social security and it doesn't matter whether people want to face that fact or not.  The people empowered this  and now they can ride it to the bottom.

Ted was right to call Mitch out on that.  And Ted was right during the gov shutdowns.

But Trump is already defunding ObamaCare by undermining the individual mandate and signaling to the insurance companies that they wont be helped.

There is no sign of single payer and doubt it could happen until at least 2020.

It will happen virtually overnight once the outcries of rage reach deafening levels when the last major Insurance Providers in the exchanges pull out over massive hemorrhaging of profits to cover all the mandates they must cover.  Dumping everyone into Medicaid and Medicare will be the only thing that the GOP and Trump will look at in terms of a stop-gap.

Then, this is not even beginning to discuss the insolvency and debt Medicaid and medicare have already racked up as everyone has been shoved on over into those pools to provide subsidized taxpayer-funded coverage.

Again, no need to be so cynical.  Even if the block grant pathway happens, that could be the gateway to isolating high 'risk pools' , eliminating most and eventually all taxes and killing subsidies etc.

Fantasy pipe-dream.  Name for me one government program that has ever killed it's subsidies.  One.   It's why I remain cynical, as any real Conservative should be regarding ANY program the Federal Beast has control of that interferes and issues mandates about how we live our lives.  I think anyone attempting to massage, justify or provide suggestions to 'fix' ObamaCare are useful idiots at best for the Marxists who have dreamed of nationalized healthcare for over a century.

There is no 'fixing' the ACA.  It was designed for one purpose only - and it was not to provide health insurance or better healthcare.

Also,  the  Republicans need to educate on the funding gap with more years of taxes having been collected versus benefits.

Yeah... that'll happen  :nothappen:.  I'm still waiting for the GOP to educate the people about the fact we are not a Democracy.

So you are agreeing that the exchanges are collapsing.  Putting poor people into Medicaid , is not the same as single payer.  And Trump is actively get rid of regulations left and right, including ObamaCare.

For example, Trump could allow companies to price health insurance to include covering 26 year old children as an option.....

Well we did not create this mess, Obama created these kinds of expectations.  But price the plans out that have this kind of coverage.

Are you daft?  ObamaCare - it's VERY EXISTENCE is for the purpose of establishing Single Payer.  Anyone who WANTS to salvage it in any fashion, is a proponent of Single Payer.

And it's NOT a Conservative position to massage and tweak a tyrannical entitlement the rest of us have to pay for and suffer sh*t coverage as a result of it.

And Trump is actively get rid of regulations left and right, including ObamaCare.

Show me where he has done this beyond words and promises.

For example, Trump could allow companies to price health insurance to include covering 26 year old children as an option.....

Trump could ALLOW?????

Since when did you hand power over to Trump to make such decrees and edicts???

You have some serious deficiencies in your understanding of the actual power of a President if you think Trump has the power or the ability legally or Constitutionally to do what you're suggesting.

He is meeting with business leaders all the time .  Imploding ObamaCare means that insurance companies can now write COST EFFECTIVE plans that people can afford, with minimal and eventually no subsidies.

We need to be calling our congressmen now to buck Trump, Cruz and Mike Lee up.

We are inches from being less socialized in our medicine.

Just hours after Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), chair of the conservative Freedom Caucus, said he would vote against Trump's draft ObamaCare replacement bill (that leaked last week), The Hill reports that another influential Republican Committee member, Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.) has said he will not back the bill.

We need to be calling Congress instead of infighting.  Repeal Obamacare for sure.  Replace with something as free market as it can be.

That is what this "Repeal and Replace"  smells like.   They don't really want to repeal it because some people actually like it.

The politicians just don't want to say so.

France, England or Canada?  Which direction do we go?

If congress will get rid of all great.  Otherwise, means testing to a limited set of truly needy would be much better than what we have now.  And unlike Canada, if private insurance is banned in this country, then there is no where else to go.....
