The presuppositions of many of the reporters outraged by Donald Trump go against Baronelle Stutzman. From Buzzfeed to the New York Times, she is treated like a bigot. A florist in the United States of American can refuse to provide flowers to any wedding for any reason under the sun except one. If a Christian florist refuses to lie and says it is about her faith, the state will ruin her. The media will stack the deck against her in coverage.
The people who are outraged by this treatment are the ones cheering on Donald Trump. They cheer him on for daring to push back against left of center presuppositions and an arrogance that presumes the “free press” provision of the First Amendment only applies to those with a press badge.

Where Trump supporters go wrong is that they think that crap like the (admittedly amusing) press conference will help their case. IMO they're way off base on that.

Attacking the press is not part of his job, they don't work for him.

Erik Erickson is a button hurt loser. In one section he brings up that Trump isn't a Conservative and then worries he is giving Conservatism a bad name. The Evan McMuffin crowd is few in numbers but many in whining.

They're doing their job. They do it poorly often, but their job is not to be a tool of the administration. Not unless you want to turn us into some autocracy.

The problem is not that they're doing their job, its that after eight years they've decided to do their job now.

Their job is reporting news. They don't. The NY Times had to send out apology letter to it's readers for not reporting the news for the last election it is so bad. Donny can use them as a punching bag all day long and no one will care except for Erik Erickson and the rest of the NeverTrump, who have to hate Trump no matter what to save face and appear relevant.

So, you're upset that they're not treating Trump like they did Obama. That's sad.

They're doing their job.

So, lying is the media's job in your opinion?

Fascinating   :pondering:

Is it Trump's job? Because he's doing it exceedingly well.

I agree, @Weird Tolkienish Figure

So far, the President has signed executive orders reducing regulatory burdens within the federal bureaucracy and Obamacare, has frozen federal hiring, pulled out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, approved the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines, moved forward on plans for the Mexico border wall, strengthened White House ethics rules, kept thousands of jobs in the US, is working with Congress on legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare and reduce personal and corporate taxes!   And he's not yet been in office a month!!

I'm happy you've noticed how well the President is doing his job!    ^-^

I will thank you for being civil RiV. I do agree that Trump has done some good things. But he has huge character flaws that will continually work against him and his administration.

This is entirely wrongheaded. You won't find anything about a White House Press Corps in the Constitution. That was begun as a means of manipulating the press but advances in technology turned the press beast on its master.

Who is the press? We all are if we wish to be. Having a multi-billion dollar corporation behind you does not place you in a privileged caste, or, better said, shouldn't.

Yeah you won't White House Chef either in the Constitution. So what?

I have my critiques of the press, but their job is to question the President, not gloss over his many exaggerations and inaccuracies. And his general craziness.

Some of you are missing the point entirely.

Trump isn't asking the media to STOP doing their job...he wants them to START.

Currently, they are simply acting as a propaganda wing for the Democratic party and the Alt Left. He isn't asking the press to work for him, nor does he expect them to avoid tough questions or to fail to investigate improprieties...all he is asking, is that they strive to do so in, at least, a marginally impartial way. He, and all of us, get that no media can be perfectly impartial...and neither does anyone hold them to a standard of "perfect" accuracy. What he, and we, expect is that they not be on an Alt Left jihad 24/7. The role of the media in a democracy is vital, and our Republic will fail unless we can find a way to restore credibility to it...but don't blame the guy who is simply identifying reality and informing the nation as to the utter disappearance of true journalism.

Having lost its impartiality, the 3rd estate cannot perform its true function in a democracy...which is to keep all sides honest and held to account to the people. Trump just wants to restore that credibility, but that can't be done unless we all quit pretending that the press has become anything other than a tool of the Alt-Left...you can't fix it till you acknowledge its reality. And yes, there are exceptions to this universal lefty slant...icons of light in the dark morass...but they have become few and far between.
