You know, you might just be right about that.
It's hard to remember those days, but the fact is that we really did used to recognize the Crazy among us, and thus did dispatch the White Coats to net them before they could harm themselves, or anyone else.
Since then, the idea of insanity was deconstructed and subjectivized, and now, as our culture has devolved, it is widely mistaken for a kind of creative genius.
So yeah: first we treated them, then we ignored them, and now we celebrate them.
