House Unanimously Passes Bill to Repeal Large Chunks of Midnight Regulations

January 4, 2017| by Kim Pines

Obama was hell bent on getting hundreds of midnight regulations through before leaving office. Well, it seems he may not get his last wish.

Legislation to allow Congress to repeal in a single vote any rule finalized in the last 60 legislative days of the Obama administration was passed through the house. This is the second time this happened in less than two months.

The GOP-backed Midnight Rule Relief Act, which passed the previous Congress in November, was approved largely along party lines by a vote of 238-184 on the second day of the new Congress. Democratic opposition could not stop them.

My avatar shows the national debt in stacks of $100 bills.  If you look very closely under the crane you can see the Statue of Liberty.

I'm sure Mitch McConnell will make sure it doesn't get  through the senate.
