I make you look a little sideways at the whole Harry Potter crowd. That's a target rich environment.

It didn't help Erin Moran that "Ritchie" went on to become on of Hollywood's top director's and the Fonz also continued for awhile on the Big Screen.

I'm sure that didn't help her self-assessment with a half empty bottle of Jack next to her.
I think there's a real possibility that it might have just been a mental disorder, possibly made worse by menopause, and again if she was resorting to illicit drugs it would have obviously made it even worse.

Thank you for the link.  I did hear about Paul Petersen's support and advocacy group for former child actors, and I understand the group does good work. It's just too bad they couldn't save Erin Moran.  But all the resources and support in the world can't save a person if he or she doesn't want to be saved.
The grip of addiction is very powerful. Many times an addict will profess they want help, but will nonetheless fail over and over to follow through when help is given.

Recovery resources are bountiful. They have been made to be highly profitable, by Obamacare.

But the olde fashioned way might work best, because it is NOT sugar coated.

Certainly does, doesn't it?

Indeed. Still tragic, but thankfully for everyone no fault was at play. (And yes, I was wrong about the heroin part.)

The memory of Erin is owed an apology by all the drug warriors on this thread who accused her, and everybody else who treats pain with Opiods, an apology.

I don't expect one, either.

The discussion about opioids and abuse thereof, arose from the suggestion she was a druggie, and overdosed.

There are people with legitimate pain, which modern medicine treats with medications.

And there are drug addicts and abusers, that give the drugs a bad reputation.

Very sad ... perhaps she didn't have the money to get treatment??

Or, she may have spent what money she did have for it. She and other Happy Days stars reached
a settlement with CBS (which owns Happy Days for syndication and DVD) that paid her and
the others involved a $65,000 lump sum and forced CBS to honour merchandising royalties to them,
which probably helped her huge financially but you can expect the cancer drained even those
resources.

It's also wise to observe that merely because many if not most druggies would like an end to the ridiculous War on Drugs, it
doesn't follow that many if not most who would like an end to the ridiculous War on Drugs are druggies.

Yeah I saw that as well.

She did have a history of drug issues but there was no indication that her death had anything to do with them.

@DCPatriot

You may be right, but I have never understood how or why anyone would establish their own sense of self-worth based on the accomplishments or successes of others.

I never really gave a damn what others were saying, thinking,or doing, unless they were saying, doing, and thinking it about me in  a way that might cause me harm.

I am my own person with my life to live, and so is everyone else. I would rather focus on what *I* want to accomplish than waste any of my time being jealous or resentful of what others do.

If you do good in life,"Good for you!". If you don't do well according to your own dreams and standards and this makes you unhappy, you have my sympathy.

Meanwhile,I have my own train to run.

Note, it doesn't say how she died so an overdose is possible. It sure beats dying of Stage 4 Cancer in my book and could be justified.

About the time last late August when I couldn't take the pain any longer I got me some oxycontin. Last resort. Made me groggy and didn't help stop the pain. I got a five day supply and have three days worth left. All that can be yours...if the price is right...

On a lighter note when the meds didn't help I figured I could save them up and then leave. Leaving became the thought for the day. Every day. It wasn't that I was felling sorry for myself. I was pissed off about it.

I want to note that everyone out there wants to feel good. They are going to do that whatever it takes. It doesn't have to be alcohol or drugs.

Back to the more seriousness of this topic,

Robert Pirsig who wrote Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance has passed away at 88 years old. I'm sure many of us have read that book, I have.

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/apr/25/robert-pirsig-zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-maintenance-author-dies-aged-88

That was a very popular book.

I started college in 1976 as an English major. Zen was one of THE books.

I started college in 1980 also as an English major.

Ditto for Zen. I still have a paperback of it in my library.

(I loved being an English major)

It's also a bang-up book about fixing motorcycles.

Fixing anything, really. The mindset is the same, whether you are fixing a bike, a tap, or a person.

Rest in peace.

Open letter from Steve. (Erin Moran's Husband).

Erin and I met 4/22/1992 and parted ways 4/22/2017. We were planning to go to Thunder Over Louisville to celebrate.
She was feeling fine on our anniversary 11-23-2016. Maybe four or five days after we got back Erin woke up and had about a dime size blood stain on her pillowcase. She said I think i bit my tongue. A couple days go by and there's a bigger spot of blood. We get like 4 days into December, there's more blood. I get a flashlight and say let me look. It was not her tongue it was her tonsil on the left side. I thought it was tonsillitis.

So we went to an ENT who said they wanted to biopsy it. It came back squamous cell carcinoma. She started radiation and chemo. Five days a week radiation and chemo only on Thursdays. We did that the whole time. It got so bad so fast. By the
middle of February, Erin could no longer speak or eat or drink. She had a feeding tube implant and i feed her 6 to 8 times a day. She was still happy, she was active, she texted people on her phone all day. On the 21st she was having trouble breathing. She woke up on the 22nd, she was not 100%.

She needed Kleenex, so i went to the store and came back. She was there watching T.V in bed. I laid down next to her held her right hand in my left. I feel asleep woke up about a hour later still holding her hand and she was gone, she was just gone.. Norton Cancer Institute never said how bad it was.. The coroner told me it was really really bad. It had spread to her spleen, she had alot of fluid in her lungs and part of her brain was infected. The coroner said even if she was in the hospital being pumped full of antibiotics she still would not of made it. He said it was the best that she was with me and went in her sleep. So that's it.

PLEASE feel free to send the above to Any and ALL news outlets The press has been relentless. they knock on the door constantly. Thank you Harrison County Sheriff's I Called last night and they came out ran them off got up this morning
they were all back sheriffs ran them all off again. the last time two cop cars ran off the last ones right before it got dark. we will see what tomorrow brings....  PEACE my friends.

It's the real deal. And sad considering how fast she went when all was said and done.

I dunno, Ace.  Fast is better when you get to that point.

If it exploded inside her the way her husband describes, you're right.
