US election hacking: Senators call for sanctions on Russia
« on: December 29, 2016, 09:12:57 am »
Three prominent US senators have warned that Russia and its president may face sanctions over the country's alleged interference in last month's presidential election.

They said the move had cross-party support in the senate.

President-elect Donald Trump has rejected claims of Russian interference.

Outgoing President Barack Obama is expected to announce retaliatory measures as early as Thursday.

These could include economic sanctions and changes to diplomatic relationships.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded in a statement: "If Washington really does take new hostile steps, they will be answered.

"Any action against Russian diplomatic missions in the US will immediately bounce back on US diplomats in Russia."

US Senators Call for Sanctions on Russia in Election Hacking

WASHINGTON —

U.S. senators visiting eastern European allies to discuss security issues called for sanctions against Russia for interfering in the presidential election by hacking American political sites and email accounts. Their demands came amid ongoing discussions among U.S. officials on an imminent response to alleged Russian meddling that would ensure the U.S. takes action before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

“We have to sanction Russia for these cyberattacks (and) send a clear message to the incoming administration that there is a lot of bipartisan support in Congress for going after this,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., told The Associated Press by phone from Latvia.

Need evidence first. Then sanctions.

The Worm said the Russians hacked. What more evidence do you need? You a bitter clinger or something?

All of the intel agencies say the Russians were up to something but they don't agree about what they were doing.

We need a serious look at what is going on before we do anything.

I have to admit, the narrative we are hearing makes zero sense to me.

Clinton uses an unsecured server. Gets hacked, that is a guaranteed event.
The DNC gets hacked, supposedly by the Russians.

Who then use what they've found, by judicious releases, to ensure the defeat of the one presidential candidate they have a rock solid blackmail hold over?

What world are these people claiming this living in?!

I'm all for investigations. Just wondering why obama is stepping up against a still very powerful nuclear state with no evidence other than "trust us". Trusting the government blindly has a bad history imo.
