Obama faces widespread backlash after abstaining from UN Israel vote
By Rebecca Kheel - 12/23/16 04:20 PM EST

President Obama is facing widespread backlash from Republicans and some Democrats after the United States abstained from a vote on a United Nations Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements, allowing the resolution to pass.

“Today's passage of an ill-conceived resolution on Israeli settlements marks another shameful chapter in the bizarre anti-Israel history of the United Nations,” Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in a statement Friday.

“The abstention of the United States has made us complicit in this outrageous attack, and marks a troubling departure from our nation's long, bipartisan history of defending our ally Israel in the United Nations.”

The 'backlash' coming from all of the usual players - McCain, Graham, McConnell - is only play acting, as anyone paying attention already knows what Obama is about and where his true loyalties lie.

Like Obama cares.   He has less than a month left to his term, and he just can't stand being out of the limelight while Trump gets all the attention. So Obama is going to ramp up his vengeance against his enemies to the very end.  America and Israel are his enemies.

All we really know about Obama is that he is a putz ... to use the appropriate word.

I have some less appropriate words for him, but the mods would be upset.

Welcome Back Carter, Take 3: Hypocrisy Never Sleeps

Hypocrisy never sleeps: even as the Obama ambassador to the UN ensured the passage of the Resolution against Israeli settlements in the West Bank, Barry  - without a smidgeon of pecksniffery – wished Jews around the world a Happy Hanukkah:
Quote
“As night falls over each of the next eight days, Jews in the United States, Israel, and around the world will gather to light their Hanukkah menorahs, display them proudly in the window, and recall the miracles of both ancient times and the present day.

For more than two millennia, the story of Hanukkah has reminded the world of the Jewish people’s perseverance and the persistence of faith, even against daunting odds. For more than two centuries, the meaning of this holiday has inspired an American tradition of religious freedom -- one codified in the Bill of Rights and chronicled in the enduring promise President George Washington made in his letter to the Jews of Newport, Rhode Island: that the United States ‘gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance.’

May the flicker of each flame in every Menorah remind us all of the profound miracles in our own lives. And may the light of hope we shed continue to drive out darkness and brighten the futures we build for our families, our neighbors, our communities, and our world.

On behalf of Michelle and my family, Chanukah Sameach. Happy Hanukkah!”
To be clear, according to Alan Dershowitz, it was Obama behind the UN resolution all along with the intent of abstaining in an attempt to tie Trump’s hand in the future. Barry doesn’t seem to understand that Trump simply refuses to comply with existing rules so the hand-tying may not work.  ...

As Steven Hayward reminded us, Carter pulled a similar move in his waning days, which led to this chastising Washington Post editorial in December of 1980. It could have been written (although not published) about Obama’s move last Friday:
Quote
THE AMERICAN vote against Israel in the Security Council Friday was, in a sense, the essential Carter. There was no good reason of state for the United States to reverse its previous refusal (twice) to condemn Israel for expelling two West Bank mayors…Yet the administration condemned Israel. It evidently did so out of a familiar impulse to be at one with the virtuous souls of the Third World, notwithstanding the complexities of the larger issue at hand.
...

This is EXACTLY why Trump came out of the White House after greeting Obama as President-Elect....saying that he imagined he would be "seeking Obama's counsel often".

This is an extremely dangerous time for America with this [blank] still sitting in the Oval Office...if only figuratively.

It is no secret that Bammy doesn't like Bibi to put it mildly and he has done everything to display his dislike and to undermine him.  When leaders of Congress welcome Bibi after our president dissed and would rather take the time to light up the White House in rainbow colors to honor LGTB's something is drastically wrong. When our president abstains from a vote to help our Christian ally and the veep states that the West Bank is spawning terrorism; something is wrong.  When Bibi has to call upon our President-elect for help, something is critically wrong and I fear what the idiot in chief and his minions will do before they leave office.  God Bless Israel!

Obama's not done just yet.  Look for another UN resolution before January 20 about Israel's borders.   **nononono*
