Rubio blasts Obama's 'pathetic' Castro statement
By Harper Neidig - 11/26/16 11:19 AM EST

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) lashed out at President Obama on Saturday for not taking a harsher stance against Fidel Castro in a statement issued after the Cuban leader’s death.

“President Obama issued a pathetic statement on death of dictator #FidelCastro with no mention of thousands he killed & imprisoned,” Rubio said in a tweet.

@mystery-ak

That was an applause-worthy statement from Rubio.

I seriously had to read Raul Castro's statement a second time; initially I thought it was from Obama.

Fidel Castro's death cannot bring back his thousands of victims, nor can it bring comfort to their families.
Today we remember them and honor the brave souls who fought the lonely fight against the brutal Communist dictatorship he imposed on Cuba.

Oh, gee... guess who's in mourning for the atheist who rejected his Jesuit upbringing? Yes, the Jesuit pope from Latin America.

Trudeau's father was one of Castro's biggest allies as he was dragging his own country further and further leftward.

Trudeaus never met a dictator they didn't like.  Pierre even had a soft spot for Hitler, and thought Canada shouldn't have fought Nazi Germany.

American media reacts to Castro's death
By Rick Moran

The death of Fidel Castro last night has sparked an outpouring of reverie and adulation on the left and a wave of revulsion from those less enamored of the thuggish dictator.

Paul Mirengoff of Powerline looks at the reaction from the Washington Post and New York Times – two of the dictator's most fervent disciples:

Washington Post reporters Kevin Sullivan and J.Y. Smith don’t go that far. They write:

I don't worry about Trump handing over Gitmo but he has said that he wants to get in there and start developing the place and building the Cuban economy.

For a free nation that's a great thing but building the economy of a communist nation doesn't do squat for the people. It just builds a communist government which in turn oppresses the people more effectively.
One of the reasons the Mob was thought by some to be behind JFK's assassination was the failure of the Bay of Pigs, largely on a call to withhold the air strikes which would have eliminated the Cuban air force on the ground, and could have taken out the columns of tanks used against the invading expatriate counterrevolutionaries. Basically, Kennedy left them swinging, and the invasion failed. When Castro had taken over, the Mob lost the significant income from resorts, casinos, and other operations on Cuban soil. Had the Bay of Pigs invasion been supported and successful, and the Communists overthrown, there is a significant chance they would have regained that revenue source. So, basically, Kennedy had destroyed that prospect by withdrawing support from the invasion while it was in progress.

That aside, 'normalization' of relations with a communist country would have great potential for income properties for a developer (or cronies).

SOURCE: DAILY CALLER

URL: http://dailycaller.com/2016/11/26/pope-francis-grieves-over-the-death-of-excommunicated-atheist-dictator-fidel-castro/

by Russ Read

Pope Francis sent his condolences following the death of infamous atheist and former Cuban President Fidel Castro Saturday.

“I express to you my sentiments of grief,” said Francis in a message to Castro’s brother, President Raul Castro. He noted that he grieved over the “sad news” and would pray for the former dictator.

Castro died Friday night at the age of 90. He was baptized Catholic and educated by the same Jesuit order to which Francis belongs. Despite his religious upbringing, Castro was a vocal atheist and declared Cuba an atheist state when he rose to power in 1959. He suppressed the Catholic church during his reign, sending priests to re-education camps and restricting the celebration of holidays. Castro was reportedly excommunicated under an anti-Communist decree by Pope Pius XII in 1962

The Catholic church lived on in Cuba, despite the Castro regime’s best efforts to destroy it. While only ten percent of Cubans are practicing Catholics, half identify as such. The Vatican intentionally maintained relations with Cuba throughout the Castro era, despite its generally anti-Communist policy. Local Catholic charities provided relief work in Cuba, particularly after Castro lessened restrictions on religion after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict and Pope Francis all visited the island nation in years following the changes.

It does seem to be the case. He certainly is a Leftwing Globalist activist more than he is any kind of 'religious figure'. I do not get the impression that he is a particularly religious guy. He is much more concerned with social activism than he is with God, or Jesus, or Christianity.

@Cripplecreek Actually you have it backwards. Building the economy will cause the people to gain more freedom and in turn they will demand more. That is what happened in Russia. Geraldo on Castro: All-Awful View Is 'Simplistic,' 'Will Be Remembered Fondly'
By Tom Blumer | November 26, 2016 | 6:01 PM EST

shares

In a Saturday morning appearance on Fox & Friends, Geraldo Rivera, who interviewed Fidel Castro in 1977 when he worked at ABC News, mostly defended the Cuban dictator whose death was announced Friday night.

Rivera, while admitting earlier in the five-minute segment that "Communism stinks, we all know that," and that "Communism cannot compete with capitalism," nevertheless insisted in the segment's second half that the "all awful" view of Castro is "simplistic," and that "he will be remembered fondly" by the Cuban people.

Rivera's most ignorant claim in the segment's first half (full version here) was his prediction that "(President Barack) Obama's outreach to Cuba" will help "the legacy of Castro to crumble."

Billionaires love socialism/communism/marxism/fascism because they can step right over the little people and their rights and demands. Make a few deals with a few at the top and they remove that little seaside village and its people so you can build your resort. In return those at the top of that communist nation get to become wealthy themselves and their economy is bailed out for a few more years so they can stay in power.
