I thought it was a stupid and boastful remark on Trump's part during the 2nd debate when he said, “Because you’d be in jail,.  Red meat for his followers and nothing more.  Not surprised he is backing away from it, as he will from many of his boastful campaign promises.   

 

My guess is that he'll back away from all of them.

He didn't mean a thing he said when he was trying to fool conservatives into voting for him.

Thanks for the welcome, although I do think that it is literally impossible for Trump to be worse than Hillary. In fact, I think it's impossible for anyone, or anything, in the universe to be worse than she is - she would have brought us directly into WWIII, imo, as her greatest, and last, "wag the dog." Can't investigate her crimes, after all, if the country is a smoking ruin and she's the new emperess. No matter what you might thnk of Trump, he's nowhere near that - in fact he's not even sworn in yet and he's started mending fences with Putin. That's not trivial.

The difference is, when Trump is done everything will have been done under the Republican/conservative banner and that damage may well not be recoverable for the party. GWB gave us Obama, what follows Trump could be far worse. Trump is neither a conservative nor Republican. He's an principled populist running with the conservative/Republican banner because that's were the votes were.

After watching Fox and reading this story at other sites I believe all Trump was saying is he will let the process play out and he will not go into office and demand a special prosecutor right off the bat...there are several investigations going on now and to let them play out...here is a reasonable explanation I found on FB

I thought everyone understood the reasons WHY Trump said 'HE' would not pursue charges against Hillary. So here's the outlined explanation:
1. The last 8 years, the DOJ was run by Obama. The AG was nothing more than a puppet doing Obama's bidding. The DOJ was weaponized and used to attack all enemies.
2. Trump wants to RETURN independency to the organization. Trump is not the AG, it is not HIS job as President to pursue anyone.
3. Trump is trying to PREVENT an Obama pardon, so that for all other cases of wrong-doing done by Hillary, however they are connected, charges can be brought.
4. Jumping in right away to go after Hillary causes friction, and his REAL agenda will be put aside.
5. The Trump admin will go after Hillary, eventually. But the first 100 days, you do NOT want that fight. You want to build a wall, and get people back to work by lowering taxes, cutting regulations, etc.
If Obama pardons Hillary, it's all undone, and Hillary will LITERALLY get away with serial murders and child trafficking!

Congressional investigations and hearings are a joke and the FBI has been pretty clear about their intent to find nothing.
