The U.S. Embassy in Jordan on Thursday refuted a claim that American soldiers sparked a deadly shooting at military base.
Three U.S. Army sergeants — Kevin McEnroe, Matthew Lewellen and James Moriarty — were killed when they came under fire while entering a military base in southern Jordan on Nov. 4, the Pentagon said. It said they were on a training mission.
Jordanian state media reported that the servicemen, from the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Fort Campbell, Ky., sparked the incident by disobeying orders from Jordanian soldiers.
