Rand Paul unloaded on John Bolton as a possible pick for Secretary of State, calling him “unhinged” and “totally unfit” and saying that he would vote against him.
Rand also says he would be opposed to Rudy Giuliani unless he disavowed the Iraq War and other foreign policy positions. Ironically, he’s demanding that they disavow these positions and conform more closely to Trump’s statements that align more closely with Paul’s non-interventionism.
This is a very clarifying event to show the ideological split in the GOP. Rand Paul is opposed to many of Trump’s domestic policies but he loves his supposed “foreign policy” just because he was against the Iraq War. Meanwhile, if you don’t see much of a difference between non-intervention and isolationism, you’re more likely to prefer Bolton, whom the left-wing have characterized as a crazed extremist hawk.
