Impotent Rage About Trump Directed at Steve Bannon
The witch hunt against Bannon is animated by the impotent rage of the "anyone but Trumpers."
By: Lori Lowenthal Marcus
Published: November 15th, 2016

It didn’t take haters of president-elect Trump long to shift their negative energy away from Trump and instead focus it towards an easier target: former Breitbart editor-in-chief and newly named Trump’s chief strategist Stephen Bannon.

Trump won the election, he isn’t going anywhere and people, especially liberal Democrats who have been lulled by eight years of validation, are angry. Also greatly peeved are the traditional establishment conservatives who refused to back the aggressively non-intellectual Donald Trump. It was not only shocking but personally insulting to many of the elites that the “loser” actually won. Much better to throw word-bombs at a liberal for four years than to have to eat crow – picking feathers out of one’s teeth is never fun.

So when the president-elect filled his first two positions and one of the two was an establishment stalwart, Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus as chief of staff, heads swiveled and the keyboards pointed towards the second, the easier target, Bannon.

One thing to note, half of the Breitbart staff walked out in February due to Bannon's leadership and direction. These were well respected Conservatives like Ben Shapiro. However, even Ben says he doesn't believe Bannon is racist or actually anti-Semitic. What he says is that Bannon is an opportunist who has no problem using groups like those to further his ends and will gladly fire them up if need be.

IE, Bannon is about serving his own interests and will use whatever vile group he needs to if he thinks it will do that.

And the likes of Ben Shapiro have their own interests.

Yeah. It would be leaving a Alt-Right racist/bigot like Bannon.

Yeah. It would be leaving a Alt-Right racist/bigot like Bannon.

Lori Lowenthal and other Jews apparently don't see it that way.

As Robert Spencer noted,

Most likely Democrats and Leftists don't mind folks like Keith Ellison or the outright anti-Israeli platform of the DNC and the list goes on.

It's hypocrisy, as long as they can accuse others of being bigoted, that's all that matters.

Armstrong Williams, talk show host, African American and many others have said Bannon does not have these kinds of tendencies.

Bannon and his wife are on record in court docs that they didn't want their daughters to go to school with Jews. Jake Tapper found the 2007 transcripts yesterday. I'm sure there will be a lot more to come.

I think this is the best descriptor I have ever seen for him.

This accusation is in the other thread:

The evidence? Slim to none. As David Horowitz pointed out Monday, the source for the claim that Bannon is anti-Semitic is “a one sentence claim from an angry ex-wife in divorce court no less, that Bannon didn’t want their kids to go to school with Jews.” Horowitz noted in response that Bannon had wanted to produce a Horowitz biopic: “I find that particularly amusing since Bannon wanted to make a film to celebrate this Jew’s life.”

Something said in a divorce court may well get laughter. And if that's the best they can do, they may not have much.

I'm not seeing anything hit the wire on that yet either.

If it came from Jake Tapper's twitter, I would be suspect. He is known for passing along anything and everything, to the point I've been blocked for calling him out one to many times.

Something said in divorce court in Illinois didn't get laughter, it got Obama elected to the Senate.

That's so vague, it seems irrelevant. Care to add any details?

Apprently Ivanka said some things about Trump in divorce court, how is that working out? She wants an appointed position, I think ambassadorship.

What's next? If I say I don't want to go to Mexico because they have lots of crime, that's racist?

The shift happened, and I can't pinpoint exactly when.

I used to visit the website frequently, and listen to Breitbart Radio on my way to work.
I thought they did a good job reporting on things that were important to conservatives.

I think it really became noticeable when the Lewandoski grabbing the report dust-up happened.
Something shifted then.

Breitbart Radio had Kelly Anne Conway on quite a bit when she worked for the Cruz campaign.
It wasn't a Cruz bash session, not even close.
Just "how's the campaign doing, etc." kind of stuff.

Once, Bannon had Trump on the radio program doing an interview, where Trump said "Cruz was the worst liar ever" and Bannon called him on it, twice.
Trump modified it to say "Well, he's right up there."

I think at the end of the day, Bannon isn't so much a anti-Semite, as he is an opportunist.
Word came out that he was advising Trump before he left Breitbart to do so publicly.
He has a place in a campaign, and now with an administration, that he didn't have with others who were running, and has taken advantage of that.

I think his idea of "alt-right" is more of the disenfranchised voter type variety, than the fringe part.
I sure hope so, anyway.

Anyway, I can get plenty of cheer-leading, so I don't visit Breitbart anymore.
I'd like some honest reporting, no matter where it leads.
The last straw for me was when they put up a picture of the Cleveland Cavaliers parade from when they won the NBA championship, and claimed it was a photo of a Trump rally in Florida.

I expect our side to be better than that.

Can you not read? This is what you wrote: "Bannon and his wife are on record in court docs that they didn't want their daughters to go to school with Jews." This is not at your link.

So it was claimed by his wife in a divorce deposition. Bannon denies it. They sent their kids to the school anyway.

Nothingburger.

Since I had some negative things about Bannon, a post or so back, I have some positive things as well.

He is a former Naval officer and currently his daughter is an officer with the 101st Airborne.
One thing he seems to genuinely care about is veterans and veterans issues.
This is good news, to be sure.

He is former Goldman Sachs, which some may find that distasteful, but they hired him, nor because he's a "globalist", but because he is one smart dude.
He has admitted, on air, that he thinks it is funny that people paint everyone who worked it Goldman Sachs as globalist.
He said this not only in his own defense, but in defense of Heidi Cruz, before Breitbart went all in for Trump, anyway.
