It just means the FBI was caught with its pants down. They claimed to have performed a thorough investigation of Hillary's Email only to have more of it made public that the FBI didn't release/acknowledge possession of.

The justice department and FBI are mired so deep in the Clinton morass they will only provide further cover for her because to do otherwise will only further expose the FBI's corruption. The end game is the FBI saying "no criminality" was found - so ignore all the stench and smoke flowing out of this, she's good to go... Old news, move on...

And now that the Justice Department and the FBI buried it the first time around they have a vested interest in not letting it be investigated in any real way because it exposes their corruption the first time around. In for a penny in for a pound. That's what the Justice Department and FBI have done. So either it goes away or it goes off like a nuke for the wider government at this point.

You won't hear in so many words but it's pretty obvious. They are going after Abedin and maybe Weiner because Weiner clearly has no clearance to see classified information and Abedin almost certainly broke the law if she knew he could access the laptop in question and she used it anyways. But none of that has anything to do with Clinton.

More to the point, they will never say that it's because they need a scapegoat, but that's exactly what it is.

According to polls, it's not necessarily true that Trump helps down ticket. Trump drops in Ohio, Florida, NC, and Nevada, and the Senate candidates rise.

I think Paul Ryan and McConnell want to keep their jobs, sure.

I know they don't like Trump but the coattail effect is real and they know it. What's good for Trump is good for the GOP, in general.

That was in his original letter to Congress.

To sum it up (from what I've read):

1. There is an FBI investigation into Weiner.
2. There was emails between Huma and Weiner.
3. Some of those emails are pertinent to the investigation into Clinton's email server investigation.
4. The FBI doesn't know what those emails contain as yet, but would not have changed his assessment about the case.

I think the press is really about the fact that nobody really knows anything about about anything at this point.

Comey may have seriously injured the reputation of the FBI with this.
