Sen. Marco Rubio advised his fellow Republicans on Wednesday not to use revelations unearthed by WikiLeaks as political ammunition against Hillary Clinton and other Democrats.

The Florida Republican said in a statement provided to Business Insider that he would "not discuss any issue" that has come to the public's attention "solely on the basis" of hacked emails from Clinton campaign manager John Podesta or internal emails from the Democratic National Committee.

"As our intelligence agencies have said, these leaks are an effort by a foreign government to interfere with our electoral process and I will not indulge it," Rubio said.

Rubio, a member of the Senate Intelligence and Foreign Relations committees, added: "I want to warn my fellow Republicans who may want to capitalize politically on these leaks: Today it is the Democrats. Tomorrow it could be us."

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has frequently touted the emails from Democratic Party officials that the website WikiLeaks has been releasing in batches over the past several weeks. He has told audiences at his rallies that the emails have exposed foul play in the Department of Justice's investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server as well as Clinton's close ties to the financial industry.

"You got to read it," Trump told a campaign rally audience in Florida last week.

Some intelligence officials have sharply criticized the real-estate mogul for touting revelations in WikiLeaks.

Michael Morell, a former deputy director of the CIA, told reporters during a press call hosted by the Clinton campaign last week that Trump was actively embracing attempts by hackers the US has linked with Russia to tip the election in his favor.

"In my mind, he's actually cheering it on," Morell said. "He's reading from WikiLeaks material at his rallies … He's encouraging people to read the hacked materials. He is encouraging this attack on our democracy. I just find that amazing and shocking."

Here's a solution to the problem that politicians seldom think about -- INTEGRITY.

Be honest, virtuous and consistent even when no one is watching and Hackers won't be able to get anything damning on you.

Riiight.

Says the one who said, "Honest, virtuous and consistent... is... damning on you."

Get it?  We've seen far too much use of half-truths this election cycle, with Trump's media supporters being the worst offenders.

  • All deserve a trial if accused
As Rush says, Watergate isn't half as bad as what the Democrats do; and the media is on their side.

That changes my perspective.

"Well... damned."

Why do you support damning wells?

(We've seen far too much use of half-truths this election cycle.)

Sounds like Marco may be afraid Wikileaks has dirt on his gay sex episodes.

Wouldn't want that to be leaked, now would he?

Well obviously because they won't fit on a burrito.

This man is a fool.   The sooner he is rushed off the national stage,  the better.

I knew the word "Trump"  was going to creep into your rant somewhere.   The man is living in your head "rent free."

I've heard that theory.  He certainly acts more worried about hacking than he is about the blatant ethical/legal violations revealed in Hillary's emails.

He also ignores the fact that she got "hacked"  because the stupid psychotic bitch tried to hide her doings from the public by use of that private unsecured server.

Came in to basically say what SirL did.

Don't try to pull shady shit and any leaks can't hurt.

Senator you are even MORE naïve than I thought if you believe the RATS wouldn't capitalize on a repubs Wikileaks revelation.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.
