Syrian Kurds lowered American flags from a base, after U.S. request

GIRE SPI, Syrian Kurdistan,— Three American flags were lowered on top of buildings under the control of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia forces in Gire Spi (Tel Abyad) town in Syrian Kurdistan near the Turkish border on Saturday, a local source in the region told Anadolu Agency.

The American flag was flown at a Syrian Kurdish base in northern Syria close to the Turkish border on Friday.

The source Kurds have lowered all American flags in the Munbatih area in Gire Spi except for a flag raised over the Customs House.

The Customs House flag can be viewed from Turkey’s border district of Akcakale in southeastern Sanliurfa province as well.
