Spreading fast on social media this Thursday morning is a story originally posted at the Huffington Post, which reports that Donald Trump is considering PayPal founder, gay marriage supporter, and culture war snob Peter Thiel for the Supreme Court. If appointed, Thiel would be the first openly gay Supreme Court Justice, a landmark I personally think Trump would find irresistible......

Supposedly, we have to vote for Trump because if we don't, Clinton, as president,  will nominate liberals to SCOTUS.

So much for that argument.    :happyhappy:

The best, and most true part of this article, is this statement:

"That source, who has not spoken to Trump directly about Thiel being nominated to the Court, cautioned that Trump’s offers often fail to materialize in real life."

Haha. So - one way or another - Trump is lying to someone. But, despite being burned by Trump at almost every turn, the Trumpettes will defend him again, I'm sure!
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Peter Thiel, the guy who at convention effectively pointed to the door and told conservatives to use it.

"Originally posted at Huffington Post" should have been a clue this story is BS  but - as intended - it's getting people riled up.

Trial balloon.  If his supporters don't flinch, it's a sign that he can appoint anybody he wants to the Supreme Court.

And they won't.

Assuming this story is true, based on the reaction they had to another entitlement program proposal by him, you'll be correct

Trump invited him to speak at the convention where he insulted conservatives.

Well....at least he's not (still) openly advocating that his pro-partial-birth-abortion sister be on the USSC.  Emphasis on "openly".

How anybody could trust a damned thing Trump says at this point is beyond me.

Why does everyone assume this is a made up story?  This sounds exactly like something Trump would do.

This guy has everything.  He's wealthy.  Trump likes wealthy people.
He's gay which would show Trump's tolerance and forward looking stance.
He has absolutely no experience or credentials for being on the court ... just like Trump has no experience or credentials to be president.

What's not to like?

Some trumpers cite the Supreme Court as a reason we should vote for Trump.  He's mentioned his sister and he's mentioned this guy.  So, yeah.

@mystery-ak

I agree it is made up.  I looked up this guy and he is a lawyer but never been a judge.  He would never get confirmed by the senate.

Of course they do.

But after the way they conducted themselves during the primaries and since they'd rather open a vein than admit it.

Why all the Trump bashing this close to the election? Trump has been on his A game.  Saw parts of his New York economic club talk- he was terrific.

Hope Trump wins this out.  If he is half as bad as folks here think he is, the media and establishment will destroy him.

I have no idea if he has talked to this guy or not, but the whole Supreme Court nomination thing just opened wide up.

Think about it.

Trump sends out a proposal that is outside of the purview of the federal government, this paid maternity leave deal.

Why would he now nominate judges that maybe a constitutionalist, and reign in these kinds of outside-the-constitution overreaches?

Whether this guy is one of his picks or not, Trump has shown us his hand.

Trump is a social and fiscal liberal who wants FDR-style "stimulus" while creating new entitlements. Are you seriously wondering why conservatives might have a problem with this?

Peter Thiel Is Not Under Consideration For Trump's Supreme Court Says Spokesperson

A spokesperson for Peter Thiel denied that the billionaire tech investor is being considered for the Supreme Court following a widely-cited report.

On Thursday morning, The Huffington Post ran a story attributed to two anonymous sources that said Thiel had told friends that Donald Trump would nominate him to the country’s highest court if the Republican candidate won the presidency. “It’s not clear whether Trump has indeed offered to nominate Thiel–only that Thiel has said Trump would nominate him and that Trump’s team has discussed Thiel as a possible nominee,” the story said.

“Huffington Post’s sources are lying,” said Thiel’s spokesperson Jeremiah Hall. “The truth is Peter hasn’t had any conversation about a Supreme Court nomination and has no interest in the job.”

I think the original source said he was offered. The consideration only begins of the person accepts the possibility
