I think the article nails it.  It comes down to a couple issues.  The biggest being Supreme Court appointments.

Why are we to believe what a pathological liar says about Supreme Court appointments?  It is clear that Trump shows contempt for the Bill of Rights.  Why would he ever appoint someone sworn to uphold it?

I don't claim any superiority.  And I have pointed out over and over about being able to discern somenone by their behavior.  I was standing up for Trump in that Christ died for all of us and we are all sinners.  I simply cannot judge whether he gave his life to Christ or not.  I hope he did.  But that doesn't make him a person raised up by God for such a time as this.

Just saying.  And believe me I have had my fair share of encounters with Trump Christians who claim superiority over myself for choosing to follow Trump as if he is some god or something.

The irony, I think, is that those of us (you and me, and others here) who look to God's Word for our authority, who understand that we are sinners in need of forgiveness as everyone else is, who have standards of morality that are not our own, but come from Scripture, who are constantly being accused by Trump lovers of being "sanctimonious" and "holier than thou" when in reality, we are the ones who recognize a higher authority that is immutable, and are humble before a Holy God.

What I was referring to was the poster above who misused Scripture in order to defend someone who clearly pays no attention to what it says..... Donald Trump........... and who was in truth behaving as though he believes he is morally superior to those who don't like Trump.

The Trump crew turns reality on its head.  Right becomes wrong.  Wrong becomes right.  Integrity is castigated and debauchery is elevated.

We just need to keep standing up for absolute truth, @Chosen Daughter, and not be dissuaded by those here who, as good leftists do, make up their own 'truth' to defend an indefensible position....... that is, support of a degenerate liberal, Donald Trump.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I am not sure that I have. (confusion/honesty)
I just go on and try to do a better job from there. (confusion/honesty)
I don't think so? (confusion/honesty)
If I do something wrong, I think I just try to make it right. (OK, nothing wrong with that.)
I don't bring God into that picture. I don't. (respect for God and maybe some embarrassment about his faith.)

"When we go into church — and when I drink my little wine, which is about the only wine I drink, and have my little cracker — I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness. I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed, OK? (sounds like he feels embarrassed by feeling better after communion)

It sounds to me like he has faith, but like a child. He is both confused about what he is supposed to do, and may be embarrassed about believing in God. Which would not be anything new or unusual. I do not think these are the words of some Satanic power seeker.

I have little doubt that Hillary would have portrayed herself as the second most religious, God fearing, salvation seeking, woman ever in the world, right after Mother Mary. This is not what Trump did. He told the truth, which is kind of a weird thing for a politician to do.

But, in the end, I like all of you and have no intention to argue with the faith beliefs of anyone, with or without Trump being involved. It is what it is.

So if he is Presbyterian I have to wonder if they teach that we all are sinners and need forgiveness?  Something tells me he either doesn't go or doesn't pay attention.  Surely does not understand the Bible he waves around.

To be kind to the Conservative Reformed, Trump is (predictably) a member of the PresbyterianUSA branch of the Presbyterian denomination, which is the biggest, and oldest branch thereof, but not orthodox in it's beliefs anymore, by a long shot. It would not surprise me in the least to find that PCUSA has wandered that far afield, though Trump on his own ultimately bears the responsibility for himself.

To find orthodox Christian adherence to Westminster in Presbyterianism, one would be best to seek out PresbyterianOPC or PCA...

Just sayin.

We shouldn't this is the same man that said his pro abortion sister would be a good choice.  And we know that she argued in court for partial birth abortion.

Well I am not into arguing either and I like you too.  I just think that Trump has no idea about Christianity.  That is the basic.  Christ died for our sins and we are all sinners.  He has been absent from church.

Yes. I have not been present therein for 20 years - but even back then it was getting pretty whack.
They do very much embrace social justice memes... liberal feminism and homosexuality... To be centered there is to focus away from repentance, as the focus is on acceptance - A viral (perhaps more aptly, venereal) disease running rampant in the liberal churches. In most cases they have corrupted the idea that 'God will meet you where you are' into a form of license.

Isn't really Christian then.  Yes I am judging.  I can the Bible tells me I can.  Not the world but the church.  Almost sounds Universalist.

I won't make that judgment, but am convinced that the powers-that-be do not have the Scripture in mind - because they do not seem to believe it - as they go about their lives and their work as administrators of the denomination.

Y'all are by no means alone. The PCUSA here is doddering... dying off... The more orthodox PresbyterianOPC here is vibrant and expanding - full of youth and vigor.

-As a matter of disclosure, I am Christian Messianic, so I no longer have a dog in this fight, beyond the recognition of what general orthodox Christianity admits, and knowing full well the aberrant condition of PCUSA in regard to the doctrine it purports to represent as defined by the Westminster Confession...

Very sad there is a severe warning about that in Revelations 3:16.  Good thing that you are moving to a more Bible believing Church.  After this election I no longer identify with names or denominations.  I am Christian.  And right now I am seeing my own church moving in the warm direction.  I am getting ready to make a move.  I just have to really pray about it.

I know some Messianic Christians.  Very good Christians who made the move.  I don't know a lot about it other than the obvious Messianic.

Yes, you are judging (discerning) rightly. Very much along the same lines of what the liberal Lutherans, Episcopalians, and Methodists have done against their confessions.

Sad and that is why warning bells go off with Trump.  If Christians were just weighing who they thought would be better it wouldn't be so offensive.  But this prophesy stuff is ding, ding, ding, Spiritual warning.

Trump addressing black churches - taken from Allen West website.

http://www.allenbwest.com/michellejesse/whoa-media-blacks-just-happened-trump-detroit
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

I know some Messianic Christians.  Very good Christians who made the move.  I don't know a lot about it other than the obvious Messianic.

It is an admittedly bold departure from what folks generally consider Christian norms... The idea is to recapture the doctrine of the early church... To walk in the footsteps of the Master, as disciples are meant to do... We try to do as Yeshua did (and does). That is kinda strange compared to what you are probably used to... I try to walk out Torah, I keep kosher (as according to Torah, not the same as Judaism), I keep YHWH's feasts instead of Christmas and Easter... I keep YHWH's Sabbath...

Pretty close to Messianic Judaism, without adherence to the Talmud (Jewish tradition), even as it retains Christianity without the traditions thereof... Hard-core Bible only.

It has been an amazing journey.

Yep.  I would have to pray and seek His Word about any Biblical prophesy like that.  I don't care who it is whether they have been a Christian all of their lives or just got saved.  Especially concerning a person lacking in moral judgment like Trump.

It gives me the Spiritual Creeps.  But did you know they are saying now that God has chosen Trump because he appeared in the clouds?

Its kind of like seeing Jesus in a corn chip.

People forget old Zeke, lying naked in the streets, cooking his meals on a dung fire, and playing with his sand castles.

I wonder how many today, like then, would gather up their robes and give 'the Lord's messenger' a wide berth, while running toward their prophets with itching ears..
