White Christian America Is Dead and Trump's Loss Will Prove It, Religion Expert Robert P Jones Says

http://www.christianpost.com/news/white-christian-america-dead-trump-loss-religion-robert-p-jones-prri-168051/

Leonardo Blair , Christian Post Reporter
August 17, 2016

In his new book "The End of White Christian America," billed "quite possibly the most illuminating text for this election year," Robert P. Jones, founding CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute, says white Christian America is dead and the general election in November could be a referendum on it.

"I begin the book with an obituary for White Christian America, and I conclude the book with a eulogy. This construction is consistent with the book's stark title. My argument in the book is that we have already experienced the passing of White Christian America," Jones told The Washington Post in an interview with John Sides, an associate professor of political science at George Washington University who specializes in public opinion, voting, and American elections.

"While this claim is grounded in demographic changes, it is also supported by the fading power of major institutions, such as the National Council of Churches or the Christian Coalition of America. There are no indicators that the country will see the likes of White Christian America as a dominant cultural force again," he said.

{.. snip ..}

I won't be here after the election and vote.

If Hillary wins - I will be busy, BLOAT! (It won't be long before she won't let you buy.)

If Trump wins, I won't be here to GLOAT. (I don't want to hang around while everyone looks at every speck in his eye.)

Or Christians aren't voting for Trump - which is far more likely.

The old religious folks are dying off.. Young people under 40 say thy are Christian but don't go to church or read the Bible.

In 5 years or less the Republican party will be pro gay etc. and socially liberal but at least hopefully fiscal conservative

Or a rump remnant of the old GOP, increasingly irrelevant because the large part of their former base has said goodbye and good riddance to them.
My political philosophy:

1) I'm not bothering anybody.
2) It's none of your business.
3) Leave me alone!

He has about as much to do with "Christian America" as George Soros does.

I'll go into a Dayspring Christian bookstore or about any Evangelical Christian bookstore,

The shelves are overstocked with new offerings, with different editions of the Bible,  music and clothing.

This is just one book out of thousands and it is also a theme we have heard before.

Not only that, if per some Evangelical outlooks, a Rapture happened and Evangelicals would like to see that happen, guess what? Christians are going to be persecuted. And I gather, a minority.

The author may also have a progressive streak in him.

His views get a big:

Also, see if Churches are being built in one's hometown. I know we periodically get new ones.

(White..... or any color) Christian America is dead and Trump's NOMINATION proves it.

There are no longer enough Christians with Christian values in America, even in the Republican party, to nominate a person of virtue to run for President.

Another junk article by the prime poster of junk articles.

Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

trump is no Christian.
Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning, they want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

trump is no Christian.

Nothing he says about himself, nothing in his behavior, nothing in his past, and nothing in his present indicates that he is a Believer.

It's impossible to know what's in another person's soul, but we are told we can judge by the fruits a person bears, and there isn't much there with Trump.

He has about as much to do with "Christian America" as George Soros does.

Yet he has endorsements from Franklin Graham, Jr. and Dr. James Dobson, and in several Bible Belt states he defeated Cruz.

Sadly articles like this show that some "Christians" do indeed see Trump as God's representative here on earth and that's seriously messed up.

A frightening parallel.

Hopefully there's a Dietrich Bonhoeffer in the American Church to keep sounding the alarm.

I think Jones is what is called a "Carnival Barker"; just trying to come up with an angle to sell books.

And there are gullible LIV's and liberals everywhere............ even in the so-called "Bible belt."

That's so true.   But the more you read about him, the more difficult you realize that is.

I don't know, in soft, squishy America, how many of us have the courage to stand up against prevailing "Christian" thought and downright evil as Bonhoeffer did.

trump won NY massively vrs Ted too. And Hillary will beat trump there in a manner for trump reminiscent of what the Sodom citizenry had in mind for Lot.

By your logic...Hillary is god's chosen one.

I'm not a big fan of mega churches or most of their pastors.

The Methodist church of my youth was an intimate thing where all members knew each other and all were on a first name basis with our pastor (John)
