If you drive anywhere in Pennsylvania, from the turnpike to the old U.S. routes to the dirt roads connecting small towns like Hooversville with “bigger” small towns like Somerset, you might conclude that Donald Trump is ahead in this state by double digits.

Large signs, small signs, homemade signs, signs that wrap around barns, signs that go from one end of a fence to another, all dot the landscape with such frequency that, if you were playing the old-fashioned road-trip game of counting cows, you would hit 100 in just one small town like this one.

In Ruffsdale, I am pretty sure I saw more than 100 Trump signs.

Problem is that these places usually vote GOP in PA. It's generically called "The T" with politicos here. Pitt and Philthy being solid Rat. Looking at increases in voters in the state, it isn't happening though. If all these folks haven't voted before and haven't registered yet they are meaningless. Donnies people should be here 24/7 doing a GOTV by registering new voters......but they are nowhere to be seen.

There was some hope back in 2012 that enough turnaround had happened in the Marcellus Shale fields that they could tip PA back to red. It didn't happen.

Pennsylvania is really turning into "Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Alabama in-between," as James Carville once quipped. That in-between area has been not only losing, but hemorrhaging population for decades since the decline of the coal and steel industries.
