Pope says Islam is not terrorism

Pope Francis said Sunday that Islam could not be equated with terrorism and warned Europe was pushing its young into the hands of extremists.

"It's not true and it's not correct (to say) Islam is terrorism," he told journalists aboard the papal plane during the return journey from a trip to Poland.

"I don't think it is right to equate Islam with violence".

Francis defended his decision not to name Islam when condemning the brutal jihadist murder of a Catholic priest in France in the latest of a string of recent attacks in Europe claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group.

In a press conference Sunday, Pope Francis appeared to suggest that all religions are equally prone to violence and that Islam and Christianity are the same in this regard.

When asked by a journalist about the “barbarous assassination of Fr. Jacques Hamel” in northern France who was clearly “killed in the name of Islam” last Tuesday, the Pope replied that he doesn’t like speaking about Islamic violence because there is plenty of Christian violence as well.

In the brief press conference aboard the papal plane returning from Krakow, Poland, the Pope said that every day when he browses the newspapers, he sees violence in Italy perpetrated by Christians: “this one who has murdered his girlfriend, another who has murdered the mother-in-law… and these are baptized Catholics! There are violent Catholics!”

Seems to me this Pope is doing as much as he can not for reconciliation with Islam, but for destruction of Catholicism.
What he is preaching cannot be described as 'infallible'.

This Pope is reinforcing my decision to leave the Catholic Church. He lives in luxury and preaches socialism. Where is the Catholic violence? The muslims have been at it for 1400 years and have quite a body count.
Principles matter. Words matter.

The Pope is not the Church. Don't let him drive you away. He's an evil, stupid and unworthy old man, And it makes him feel powerful to be able to drive people away.

He's more like Pope San Francisco! My mother, a devout old world Catholic is disappointed in him, to say the least. I'm just a CINO since my late teens and I'm disgusted by him.

Pope Francis said Wednesday that "the world is at war," but he said it was not a war of religion. I agree that the world is at war—but I disagree that it’s not a war of religion. It is most certainly a war of religion. Religion is behind the violence and jihad we’re seeing in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and here in this country. It's a religion that calls for the extermination of “infidels” outside their faith, specifically Jews and Christians. It’s a religion that calls on its soldiers to shout “Allahu Akbar” (“God is Great” in Arabic) as they behead, rape, and murder in the name of Islam. Radical Islamists are following the teachings of the Quran. We should call it what it is.
I agree.

When Christians are following and obeying the teachings of the Bible, they love other people, no matter their religion, no matter how much those other people mistreat them (admittedly, we frequently fall short of that standard, and that is sin).

However, when Muslims follow and obey the teachings of the Quran, they hate and kill non-Muslims. In that respect, ISIS and the other terrorists are the best, most obedient Muslims on earth.

This man is worse than a fool.
He is a clear and present danger to the flock that he is presumed to "lead".

Recall when we had a REAL leader of Christianity:
