Conservatives understand they're held to a different standard when it comes to race relations. It's not fair, but that's life in America circa 2016.

Bill O'Reilly apparently forgot that this week.

Liberals can get away with racially charged comments with little to no punishment. Just ask Vice President Joe Biden. He once described rising star Sen. Barack Obama as "clean" and "articulate," terms that sounded downright degrading.

His own party forgave him. So did the future president.

Conservatives aren't given that kind of wiggle room. Their comments are routinely scoured for "dog whistles" and "coded language" meant to imply bigotry.

Which brings us to the Fox News personality. O'Reilly decided to fact check First Lady Michelle Obama's DNC speech.

Mrs. Obama described the White House as a home "built by slaves" in a generally well-received speech. O'Reilly dug into that claim as part of his weekday opinion show "The O'Reilly Factor." More journalists should do objective fact checking. Good for him.

Only he included the following passage as part of his report:

Quote
“Slaves that worked there were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government, which stopped hiring slave labor in 1802,” O’Reilly said. “However, the feds did not forbid subcontractors from using slave labor. So, Michelle Obama is essentially correct in citing slaves as builders of the White House, but there were others working as well.”

"Well fed"? "Decent lodging"?

Well fed slaves. Sounds like the platform of the Uniparty.
“The way I see it, every time a man gets up in the morning he starts his life over. Sure, the bills are there to pay, and the job is there to do, but you don't have to stay in a pattern. You can always start over, saddle a fresh horse and take another trail.” ― Louis L'Amour

Not a Bill O'Reilly fan but if it is true in this case then I see no problem with saying so.

He didn't say they were happy in the work.

O'Riely is a bore.

Now what he said is not an affront or outrage in any manner.

obama wrapping herself in Kunta Kente outrage/propaganda however is. The White house was built by free people too. Slave labor was not forbidden in the contracts .. but it was not mandated either.

I tire of the lefts and Black racist bs. The first legal slaveowner in America was a Black man.

Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning, they want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

Its not so much that BOR was wrong as that its a dumb stand alone statement to make without engaging in a much wider conversation about the truths of slavery both good and bad. The conversation must always be qualified with the simple truth that slaves had no choice in the matter (in reality very limited choice)

I've had some great wide ranging conversations about slavery with black conservatives where we agreed that the whole truth and history of slavery in America needs to be taught to alleviate some of the rage in the black community.

But does the fact that they were well fed and decently housed make slavery better?  If he doesn't think so then why mention it?

As a counterpoint to Michelle Obama's incessant and unnecessary references to slavery.

What Blowhard Bill and the First Wookie both fail to even acknowledge the fact that there were non slave laborers and tradesmen who helped build the WH.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

As pointed out in D'Souza's film "Hillary's America", actually the party of enslavement were the DEMS, led by Andrew Jackson.

D'Souza's film "Hillary's America" should be mandated as part of the curriculum in junior high and high school.  A huge portion of the film is dedicated to truth surrounding slavery and the black movement.

At least one of the freemasons who helped plot out the design of Washington DC was a black mason named Prince Hall.

I never really liked the BOR anyway. He really stepped in it this time.
