Trump: Dems paid 'ZERO respect' to police

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump early Wednesday slammed the Democratic Party for not addressing police and law enforcement during its convention in Philadelphia.
"The Democratic Convention has paid ZERO respect to the great police and law enforcement professionals of our country," Trump tweeted.
"No recognition — SAD!"

Trump has questioned President Obama's sincerity when he speaks in support of police officers, saying "there's something going on."
The GOP nominee has also said he thinks officers in this country are treated "so unfairly."
He often praises police and spoke in support of law enforcement after officers were targeted in a string of ambush-style shootings.
The Democratic National Convention late Tuesday featured the mothers of Sandra Bland and Trayvon Martin. Bland died last year in her Texas jail cell. Her family has contested a ruling a suicide in her case. Martin died in an altercation with a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida.
David Axelrod, a former top aide to President Obama, on Tuesday said the convention would have been more "powerful" if it had also included widows of fallen police officers along with black mothers whose children were killed by gun violence.
At the Republican National Convention last week, supporters tweaked the slogan of Black Lives Matter to support police, chanting "blue lives matter."
