Quoting a guy who can't make up his mind which ideology he follows and spoke at the DNC.

How far Left you have traveled.

Yes.  Cruz failed miserably with his base ... the base that was to be his springboard from the South ... Evangelicals.

This is not about "limelight" @catfish.  Is this really how you see this?  It's terribly shallow thinking.   **nononono*

If Trump loses, by 2020 there will not be a Republican Party able to mount a winning campaign...ever again.  By then the majority of Americans, especially our youth, will be seeped in Socialism and will crave it like a drug.

And Conservatism will be a shadow blowing in the wind.

If 2020 is important to you, you'll need to set aside some deep-seated anger and choose wisely in 2016.  If we lose the WH in 2016, we lose it for good.

The hate is deep in these ones. They spend all day coming up with new anti-Trump rhetoric just like the common Leftist.

Yup,technically,Trump doesn't even have to drop out of the election. All he has to do to complete his contract with the Clinton's is to announce in Sept that he has changed his mind about building a wall and mass deportations, and his poll numbers will drop by half overnight. Deporting illegal aliens is the major factor that got him the nomination.

I still don't think he will do that, though. If he did that he would lose in public, and "The Donald" never loses because he IS "The Donald". Losing is for losers, and "The Donald" is a winner!

That's why I still think he's just going to drop out before the election and claim he decided the job was beneath him.

Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!

If 2020 is important to you,  .  .  .

2016 was important to me.

I already did choose wisely.  Keep in mind that I'm not the one here who chose the NY liberal.

That will be one helluva legacy for you Trump supporters.  You can tell your grandkids how you helped destroy the Republican Party.

I will be fascinated to see if your theory plays out, @sneakypete , because knowing what we know about Trump, it is completely plausible that he would do just that.......... drop out and say he just wasn't interested any more, but he could have done the job if he had wanted to.

I've said before that Trump is exactly like a bad child in elementary school.  He needs attention because he is insecure and weak, and he doesn't care if it's good or bad, as long as people are looking at him.

People would certainly be looking at him if he dropped out, and I have a feeling he would be in his glory because he would be on the front page of every paper in the world.  He'd love it.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

You mean the same Republican Party 'leadership' that Trump just sided with at the Convention, giving Priebus even more power at the expense of the grass roots?  The same Republican Party 'leadership' that Trump made a deal with, allowing them to pick his delegates for him?
Trump went out of his way to divide the party and to put himself firmly on the side of the establishment.

Trump does that all one his own. No digging required he steps in about 2-3 times a day. I'm glad I don't have to lick his boots clean.

If you think that hasn't already happened, you have to open your eyes.

Mitt Romney would be President if our country wasn't already addicted to socialism and strong big government.

Probably true, thought Mitt had serious problems with presenting himself as a small government type thanks to Romney care. In the end if we compromise on the truth.

We didn't make these principles: That men should be free, that government should be small. The founding principles of this nation are in a very real sense transcendent. If we abandon them for the sake of winning we will not have won anything meaningful we will have simply sold out the truth.

True enough—and I'll admit I was very slow to accept him for those very reasons—but compared to Barack Obama, and even seeing what Obama had done, especially unchecked, it should have been a no-brainer.

Yet we see, time and again, how people with no brains vote.

I think that if all of us on this site, and others like it, were to 100% get behind and vote for Trump, he would still lose. It is not us, coming up with "leftist" talking points that are doing him in. Trump is doing himself in. He has insulted a lot of people and seems as if he is going to continue to do so.
Add Koch Bros, a Fire Marshall, a Gold Star family, and a General to the list, in under one week.
Hatred of Clinton will not be enough to overcome Trump's own hatred of others.

I sure hope they have the plan drawn out to ensure the military deployed has sufficient time to get their votes in...and COUNTED.

They are always prone to be missing or not arrived in time.

Be careful what you wish for....

I believe there's a poll out that Gary Johnson beating Hil and Don among military.

I don't know about open borders, but I understand the Johnson's stance on illegal immigration is to cut off the magnets.

You might want to review his web site on this issue.

https://www.johnsonweld.com/immigration

Having served as Governor of a border state, Gary Johnson understands immigration. He understands that a robust flow of labor, regulated not by politics, but by the marketplace, is essential.

He understands that a bigger fence will only produce taller ladders and deeper tunnels, and that the flow of illegal immigrants across the border is not a consequence of too little security, but rather a legal immigration system that simply doesn’t work. Militarizing the border, bigger fences, and other punitive measures espoused by too many politicians are all simplistic “solutions” to a problem caused by artificial quotas, bureaucratic incompetence and the shameful failure of Congress to actually put in place an immigration system that matches reality.

Governor Johnson has long advocated a simplified and secure system of work visas by which willing workers and willing employers can meet in a robust labor marketplace efficiently and economically. Aspiring immigrants would undergo a background check, pay taxes and provide proof of employment.

Making it simpler and efficient to enter the U.S. legally will provide the greatest security possible, allowing law enforcement to focus its time and resources on the criminals and bad actors who are, in reality, a relatively small portion of those who are today entering the country illegally.

Yes, thanks.  I believe he talked about cutting off magnets in a recent interview.

I agree with some of the above position, but slowing the flood of economic migrants doesn't solve the problem of those who wish to harm us coming across, smugglers, terrorists, criminals, etc.

From his web site, it appears the main issue he sees with illegal immigration is the difficulties in legal immigration.  I don't see anything there about trying to reduce the draw, just to make it easier.

He may have talked about it in an interview, but his political web site should be where he lists the important items.  It appears he doesn't view the draw by magnets to be a significant issue on this topic.

Generalize much?

Gallup says after the Trump Party Convention, 51% were "less likely to vote Republican" while only 36% were "more likely". This is the worst showing since they began asking this question around 1980 something. That is negative fifteen!

Hillary also had a terrible unbounce, but her negative was only four percent.

Still two horrible candidates and two convention dips instead if bounces.

Ya know its coming.

Personally I find it sad that so many think that we're such herd animals that a few simple words from Ted Cruz would have driven us to support an amoral man like Trump.
