EXCLUSIVE: 'Dump Trump' RNC Delegate Leader: We 'Have The 28 Votes' To Unbind Delegates

Over the weekend, The Daily Wire had the opportunity to speak with Kendal Unruh, a member of the Colorado Republican delegation to the Republican National Convention. Unruh is also a member of the Rules Committee at the RNC, and a leading advocate for a vote that would unbind the delegates from the candidates to which their state primaries are pledged.

Unruh explained that "28 committee members are required to pass a minority report, which then goes to the convention floor for all delegates to vote on. It then requires a simple majority to pass." She added that she does "have the 28 votes required for the minority report," continuing, "Not everyone who is with us is willing to be public yet, due in part to the threats being made by Trump's campaign and the RNC itself."

Unruh added that the role of a responsible delegate required unbinding the delegates:

It is the duty of the delegates to represent the best interests of their states and to select a Republican candidate who actually represents our party and who can beat Hillary in November. That's not Donald Trump. We don't live in a straight democracy, where majority rule has the absolute say. We have a measured, representative form of government that allows time for discussion, fact-finding, and wisdom before our elected representatives make the final decision. Many new facts have come out since the early primaries that should disqualify Trump, and the delegates have historically always been the final stop-gate through which our party's nominee must pass. Trump didn't even get the vote of a majority of Republicans, and over 50% agree that he should not be our nominee. In fact, he would be the first Republican nominee to receive the nomination with more votes cast against him in the primaries than for him.

Unruh urged Republicans who want to dump Trump at the convention to "call and email the rules committee members from their state"; she pledged to coordinate efforts through Delegates Unbound, an organizating group available at delegatesunbound.com and on Facebook by clicking here.

Out of 44 presidential elections, 7 had candidates who came out of the convention as the candidate who did not go in with the most number of delegates. This includes Abraham Lincoln and Ike Eisenhower. While the chance of it happening is low, unlike what we are told, it is not unheard of nor is the probability (based on historical incidents) as low as one thinks.

And the rumor is that they have double that number but committee members are reluctant to come forward for obvious reasons.

I would guess that most Trump supporters think that Abe Lincoln earned the nomination fair and square.

They will probably change their minds when they find out the truth about how many ballots it took for ol' Abe to get there.....

Trump is well versed in tyranny and dictatorship.  Perhaps he has some Saddam Hussein moves planned to silence delegates.  Kim jong Un tricks, Vladimir Putin.  Maybe it will be like Tiananman Square at the Convention?  All strongmen to the rescue?

Hillary actively working behind the scenes to block efforts of #NeverTrump forces to unbind delegates.

Now why would she do that...?

Odd way to spend the weekend before the most significant event of your adult life.  Doesn't seem to be very interested in the convention -- wonder why...

Update: Trump did not hold any meetings this weekend w/ VP prospects, according to sources close to him. Met w/ staff & spent time w/ family.

If something like this happens, I will have my TV tuned to the convention every moment possible.  My fear is that they will stop Trump but not be able to replace him with a viable candidate to beat Hillary.  At this point, I would even support Rubio if he ended up as the candidate.

We as a nation do not have the fortitude as we once had.  The nation be damned, we will have our lying, corrupt, clueless buffoon because we belieeeeeeeeeve!  Our country is now on fast forward toward its demise.  I will be shocked if this disaster is averted.

You greatly underestimate the delegates' commitment and resolve.

Trump is the only reason that Hillary has a chance.  Half the country doesn't want either of them.  If someone electable were to come out of the Convention she would be dead in the water.  Probably bound for the Federal Prison with a cushy cell.

“It's all now you see. Yesterday won't be over until tomorrow and tomorrow began ten thousand years ago. For every Southern boy fourteen years old, not once but whenever he wants it, there is the instant when it's still not yet two o'clock on that July afternoon in 1863, the brigades are in position behind the rail fence, the guns are laid and ready in the woods and the furled flags are already loosened to break out and Pickett himself with his long oiled ringlets and his hat in one hand probably and his sword in the other looking up the hill waiting for Longstreet to give the word and it's all in the balance, it hasn't happened yet, it hasn't even begun yet, it not only hasn't begun yet but there is still time for it not to begin against that position and those circumstances which made more men than Garnett and Kemper and Armistead and Wilcox look grave yet it's going to begin, we all know that, we have come too far with too much at stake and that moment doesn't need even a fourteen-year-old boy to think This time. Maybe this time with all this much to lose than all this much to gain: Pennsylvania, Maryland, the world, the golden dome of Washington itself to crown with desperate and unbelievable victory the desperate gamble, the cast made two years ago; or to anyone who ever sailed a skiff under a quilt sail, the moment in 1492 when somebody thought This is it: the absolute edge of no return, to turn back now and make home or sail irrevocably on and either find land or plunge over the world's roaring rim.”

Exactly.  She might not be bright enough to manage her email or to drive a car, but she can recognize that stark fact.  Most everyone else can, too.

I don't think this would even be a close race or there would be near the division if it was anyone else, which is why it is possibly by design. (no other Republican candidate contributed to Hillary nor had a conversation with Bill before running).

Perhaps that is why Trump is running. They are trying to keep her out of prison.

I thin k this explains why Trump has been so cautious lately, never going off teleprompter (he is terrible at it BTW).  I think he realizes any false move could move the convention away from him, so he is trying to avoid any missteps until he has the nomination sewn up.  Unfortunately, he is a better campaigner when he does his "stream of consciousness" stuff.  He just needs to learn ta avoid going too over the top on race and sex.
