Conservatives: We Need To Fight And Win The Election We Have

George Rasley, CHQ Editor | 7/8/2016

In the ideal world imagined by some of our friends, Hillary Clinton would have been indicted and knocked-out of the race for President and Donald Trump will be replaced at the Republican National Convention by an as yet unidentified perfect conservative candidate whom the voters will anoint as the next President of the United States.

Of course none of this ever was, or is, going to happen, but some of our conservative friends can’t seem to stop wishing for the election they want, instead of concentrating on winning the election they have.

However, despite this lack of ability to focus on winning, the tools to win are actually there, in a way they haven’t been available to Republicans in the past several presidential election cycles.

First, and perhaps most importantly, we have a candidate – Donald Trump – who is a fighter and who will take the fight to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats in a way John McCain and Mitt Romney never would or could.

Second, we have the makings of a new and energetic conservative – populist coalition that clearly represents majority opinion on major issues that move voters; securing our borders, winning the war Islam has declared on the West, rebuilding our economy and creating jobs, and standing for law and order, to name but a few.

Third, in Hillary Clinton we have an opponent who has just been labeled by the Director of the FBI a liar who was extraordinarily careless with classified national security information, and who remains under multiple investigations for that and the corruption of her eponymous Clinton Foundation.

Fourth, Republican political alignment is stronger than it has been in generations: Republicans hold 31 governorships, and 54 Senators and 247 Members of the House of Representatives are Republicans, this is the strongest the Republican national party has been since the 1929-1931 election cycle.

Fifth, the Democratic Party has moved far to the Left under Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. It is now the party of same-sex bathrooms, same-sex marriage, government paid abortions, gun confiscation, open borders, job killing trade deals and the endless importation of welfare-dependent aliens. These policies are deeply offensive to millions of Americans who can be motivated to vote for change if they are presented with a change agenda – which Donald Trump is doing, despite the criticism and opposition of the Republican establishment.

Finally, and perhaps second only in importance to Trump’s willingness to take the fight straight at Hillary Clinton, is his commitment to confront the elitism that is poisoning our society and to fight for America’s forgotten working families.

Trump’s speech in Monessen, Pennsylvania, not only included a number of sensible policy prescriptions, it also included a politically powerful message to Americans who have been intentionally left behind by today’s political elite:

Article states......

..."Republican political alignment is stronger than it has been in generations:... Republicans hold 31 governorships, and 54 Senators and 247 Members of the House of Representatives are Republicans, this is the strongest the Republican national party has been since the 1929-1931 election cycle."......

And of those is a powerful group of conservatives worth standing for as they fight the good fight on behave of the Constitution and the freedoms we have in this country....

They are worth maintaining their foothold among the many and to secure that voting Trump is the only way we can do that....I vote Trump because everything is worth putting in the hands of a man who does love this country over one who Hillary and Bill Clinton who have no such regard.

Conservatives need to bolt the GOP and vote 3rd party or write in an actual Conservative rather than help Hillary's Stalking Horse legitimize her coronation.

Not that the election will have any more legitimacy than the investigations into the IRS, Benghazi or Hillary's e-mail scandal.

We had a coup people.  Wake up and stop playing in the illusions manufactured to placate you into supporting a beast.

The task for conservatives is to fight to retain Congress.   The Presidency is lost, barring a revelation by the delegates at the convention that they are not compelled to commit political suicide.

Unfortunately Trump is not one.

I am not going to live the rest of my life knowing I supported or voted for a horrible person like Trump.

If Trump had a shred of decency he would bow out of the race now or stroke out.

Yet more entitled discussion from someone who thinks the Republicans will, no matter who they nominate, always be the better choice than the Democrats.

We don't have an election here. We have two downstate New York elites and friends who are pretending there is a choice—New York, the same state that has sent no less than five legislative leaders to prison and had a governor resign in a prostitution scandal just in the past decade alone.

The problem we face as conservatives is that the issues we stand for—the only right stance on many issues—are politically toxic because of a mass ignorance and government dependency that has developed among the people. Not getting something from the government is now seen as a source of suffering instead of pride. As long as we have a culture of dependency in America, there will be no hope.

Trump can disingenuously rant and rave about how it's some other foreign power threatening our freedom, but the truth is that we sold our freedom bit by bit, decade by decade. First it was the New Deal, then the Great Society, then Obamacare. Each successive step hooked the people on more and more government programs. In place of true freedom from government came freedom from morals: the Great Society brought forth the Sexual Revolution. Obama's rise coincided with the fulfillment of the homosexual agenda. Yet they call it 'freedom' while demanding the baker make a cake or be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars.

We don't have freedom.

We don't have a choice.

We have lost. And if anyone wants to think there's hope for the future, look at Europe and tell me.

That was OUTSTANDING and very true in every aspect.

It's even worse than you stated, because I believe we suffered a velvet coup and few to none even recognize that fact because they can go to a polling place and mark a card in the blind belief it will make a difference.

A short while ago the GOP was a place I called home. It wasn't perfect, but it was home for me. Then the GOP let trump into the home as a nominee. trump started dumping garbage all over the home,

Same with Free Republic, I know I didn't change

Conservatives: We Need To Fight And Win The Election We Have

What meaningless pap.

Typical Neocon condescension starts it off...

Quote

More Neocon buzz, dripping with condescension.

If only those rascally Conservatives would see the proverbial Neocon light!

Quote
First, and perhaps most importantly, we have a candidate – Donald Trump – who is a fighter and who will take the fight to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats in a way John McCain and Mitt Romney never would or could.

Whoopee! Fighter for WHAT?

Quote
Second, we have the makings of a new and energetic conservative – populist coalition that clearly represents majority opinion on major issues that move voters;

No, what we have here is a pragmatist attempt to subsume and reorder Conservatism. This is no coalition. If you want coalition, go back to Reagan.

Quote
Third, in Hillary Clinton we have an opponent who has just been labeled by the Director of the FBI a liar who was extraordinarily careless with classified national security information, and who remains under multiple investigations for that and the corruption of her eponymous Clinton Foundation.

And facing her is perhaps the only person who could make this a contest - almost ANY other would mop the floor with her.

Fourth, Republican political alignment is stronger than it has been in generations: Republicans hold 31 governorships, and 54 Senators and 247 Members of the House of Representatives are Republicans, this is the strongest the Republican national party has been since the 1929-1931 election cycle.

Thanks in very large part to TEA Party Patriots - a direct extension of Conservatism... A pretty good indicator of what WILL win for next time.

Quote
Fifth, the Democratic Party has moved far to the Left under Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. It is now the party of same-sex bathrooms, same-sex marriage, government paid abortions [...]

And your pathetic candidate aligns with a good portion of those listed items, moral relativism, and big government in general. How do you fight that which you are for?

Quote
Finally, and perhaps second only in importance to Trump’s willingness to take the fight straight at Hillary Clinton, is his commitment to confront the elitism that is poisoning our society and to fight for America’s forgotten working families.

Ahh... back to 'He's a fighter'... Of 'elitists'... While being one himself... Do you guys even listen to yourselves?

It is of little surprise that this article speaks an entirely different language from Conservatism. Not a single point is ordered to actually present an argument Conservatives would even care about - Nor does it actually care about any Conservative issues.

Just a bunch of barking moonbattery - Neocons singing to their choir. Nothing to see here.

Conservatives: We Need To Fight And Win The Election We Have

Why?

The article never addressed why it would be preferable to have Trump in office.

Based on Trump's own words and deeds, he is most definitely not preferable.

Trump as a candidate has all the finesse and decorum of Rocky Balboa, and that sure displeases a lot of folks in this forum (the castoffs and tossouts from TOS, of course).

But I'm also reminded of the scene in the original Rocky film where Apollo Creed is talking money and promotion with his managers, while his trainer happens to be watching a news report of Rocky on tv in which Balboa is punching away at a piece of hanging beef.

The trainer is wise enough to see what everyone else, partcularly Creed himself, is missing -- that the low-life bum they picked "for show" is a fighter who is playing to win.

How long has it been since the Republican party has actually HAD someone like that running (and fighting) for the top position ....?

So what? What is it that he is fighting *FOR*???

It certainly isn't Conservatism, in any form.
So whatever it is that he is fighting for is none of my concern.

Show me a Conservative, and I will gladly vote for him/her.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-
