He's not wrong to worry (why is it physically painful to agree with Farage?).

Cameron, being a surprisingly decent bloke for a toff, foresaw this, which is one reason why he's stepping down - to permit a pro-leave prime minister to actually do the deed and to make sure it happens. Since Theresa May (pro-remain) is currently favorite for taking over as PM, I would expect Cameron to trigger the exit process as his last act as PM if she takes it. It's irreversable once started and what they going to do to him if he does that?
