Occupy DNC Protesters Prepare Tent Cities For ‘Camp Bernie’Peter Hasson
Occupy DNC” protesters have locked down two campground sites where they will set up tent cities to use as home base for their anti-Hillary protests. One of the group’s organizers has said she expects “several thousand” protesters to stay at the campsites.
As previously reported by The Daily Caller, more than 20,000 protesters have committed to protesting “a fraudulent Hillary nomination.” Hundreds of those protesters have already reserved two campgrounds in southern New Jersey, about twenty minutes from the Wells Fargo Center where the DNC Convention will be held.
The protesters are in the process of locking down a third campground as well. Boston-area neuroscientist Laurie Cestnick, who is spearheading the Occupy DNC movement, told a local news station she expects “several thousand” protesters to stay at the campsites.
Occupy DNC members on the group’s Facebook page have already come up with a name for their collection of tent cities: Camp Bernie.
The group appears to be modeling Camp Bernie after Occupy Wall Street’s use of Zuccotti Park as their home base.
“This is approaching Woodstock, but with better communications,” one Occupy DNC member commented on Facebook. Laurie Mitchell, who identified herself as one of Bernie Sanders’ delegates, said she expects it to be “Woodstock 2.0.”
“Omg party time!!! I’m really bummed, because I’m a delegate and they are making us stay in a hotel 45 minutes from downtown Philly; we have to check in for credentials every morning in the hotel. Probably to keep us away from CAMP BERNIE!!! This is going to be Woodstock 2.0,” Mitchell wrote on Facebook.
Jeremy Adler, communications director for conservative non-profit America Rising Squared, told TheDC that Camp Bernie is just the latest indication that the DNC convention will be an “all-out melee.”
“The formation of Camp Bernie in South Jersey is the latest evidence that left-wing extremists are actively plotting to overrun the DNC this summer,” Adler said.
“Philadelphia is now shaping up to be an all-out melee of Bernie supporters and radical Occupy Wall Street protesters who oppose capitalism and the free enterprise system, forcing Secretary Clinton to continue her march to the Left in the general election.”
As originally reported by TheDC, Occupy DNC members are encouraged to read documents shared with group members on Facebook. One document is titled “Civil Disobedience Training.” Another is titled “Health and Safety at Militant Actions” and includes tips on first-aid and withstanding teargas.
