Twitter abuse - '50% of misogynistic tweets from women'
« on: May 27, 2016, 09:51:31 am »
From the BBC:

Quote
Half of all misogynistic tweets posted on Twitter come from women, a study suggests.

Over a three-week period, think tank Demos counted the number of uses of two particular words as indicators of misogyny.

It found evidence of large-scale misogyny, with 6,500 unique users targeted by 10,000 abusive tweets in the UK alone.

(snip)

A 2014 study from cosmetics firm Dove found that over five million negative tweets were posted about beauty and body image. Four out of five were sent by women.

Ladies, what are you thinking?????

Seriously, I don't particularly care for this type of study and government efforts as discussed in the article. The eventual goal will be to police the Internet and that will result in politically-incorrect views being censored with the possibility of actually censuring those who espouse those views.

No thanks, I'd prefer to just deal with (or ignore) trolls. As the old saying goes, DNFTT.

Kind of like prosecuting people who say something negative about climate change.

The study is nonsense, as long as the definition of "misogyny" is whatever they want it to be. Calling a woman a whore may be a statement of fact, after all.
