It appears
it is an "insult" to Trump and his supporters to vote your conscience and not vote for him. When did this
start? In other elections, we have not heard we are insulting people if we don't vote like they do.
I have no more love for Donaldus Minimus than you do. But the idea that it insult's a candidate's (or a
president's) supporters merely because you despise the candidate (or president) didn't begin with
portions of the Trump sycophancy. And it probably won't end with them, so long as this country
for the most part is damn fool enough to continue partaking of what Gene Healy called (in the title
and gravamen of his book)
The Cult of the Presidency.
I heard, in various places and from various people, it was thus insulting his sycophancy to reject
Droopy Drawers Clinton, as a candidate and as a president. I heard it was thus insulting his sycophancy
to reject President Lips II as a candidate and as a president. I heard it was thus insulting his sycophancy
to reject His Excellency Al-Hashish Field Marshmallow Dr. Barack Obama Dada, COD, RIP, LSMFT, Would-
Have-Been-Life President of the Republic Formerly Known as the United States, as a candidate and as
a president. Set Donaldus Minimus to one side, and you may well find in enough places that it is thus
insulting her sycophancy to reject Hilarious Rodent Clinton, as a candidate and as a prospective
president.
It is just one of a number of cheap rhetorical devices intended not to stimulate but to stifle debate and
discourse. It ought to be ignored. Permanently.
