The first music recording I ever remember "buying;" the family had just bought a CD player and we found one of those music clubs (you know, 12 CD's for a buck kind of deals) to help stock our collection. We were each allowed to pick one CD of our own. (My dad introduced me to Warren Zevon that way when he included the
Excitable Boy album.) Most of them were country and older rock pieces, 'cause that's the kind of house I was raised in, and mine was no exception.
My choice was Johnny Cash's 16 Biggest Hits. Here's one of the cuts from that piece, as Cash did shortly before he died in 2003. It's called "Understand Your Man."
