Say, @Sanguine  would the Texas State chapter topic be a good place to post news articles of local/state interest, such as articles about what The Lege might be up to when it's in session, or what silly thing the Austin City Council (or other city council) might be doing? I suspect this is the right place for such news articles, just want to make sure.  ^-^

Yes, that would be to a primary purpose

Going to watch Asleep at the Wheel at the old town Spring Crawfish Festival this Saturday night.
It is the closest thing we can get to Bob Wills.

I live about 5 miles from the Redneck Country Club.
Gary P Nunn was there just last week end.
I saw Ray Wylie Hubbard there.
They bring in a lot of good music.
Another one of my favorites it Two Tons od Steel.
I try to catch them whenever they are in the Houston area.
Drove to John T Floores Country Store in Helotes to see them, and Gruene Hall.

Yes to all of those, plus many others.

Do you, or have you, listened to KOKE-FM? They play all of those artists and more, with a heavy emphasis on Texas/Red Dirt music. You can listen to them online from their website if you're not in the Austin area:  http://kokefm.com/ (click on the "Listen Live" button at the top of the page.)

For all who know Basil, please remember her in your prayers.

I started a thread on the Texas State Page:
http://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/topic,205514.0.html

There is a thread on FR posted by her daughter Pesto:

Dear Freepers
Basil, suffered a stroke in early January. It left her paralyzed on her right side and unable to speak. She's got very limited speech and her mental faculties are diminished. She spent many weeks in a therapeutic hospital but when it became apparent that her condition wouldn't improve, our family decided she'd be much happier at home. Hopefully we can minimize her suffering and keep her comfortable. Please pray for her, and Mr. Basil who is an amazing care giver and hasn't left her side.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3428506/posts

If anyone else is interested in visiting her, please let me know and I will try to coordinate a time with her daughter.

For those who don't she is one of the original FReepers and a passionate defender of the 2nd Amendment with her work with

You may also notice she is the one pointing at the anarchist punk on the bike in my avatar photo.
