Remember, both JFK and Reagan were not happy with their VPs.

It was all for victory....

Being happy is beside the point. First I doubt Cruz would be willing to take the VP slot. He isn't a popular political figure. Kasich brings nothing to the ticket other than being the liberal GOP Ohio governor. The VP needs to be a likeable, young, enthusiastic, energetic conservative that people feel comfortable voting for.

Being happy is beside the point<not equal>   The VP needs to be a likeable

Trump and Cruz are likeable to different constituents in different ways..

No doubt they both have good and bad qualities.

We may not like it, but Republicans do not win without Ohio.  Much to my chagrin in 76

I think the GOP will carry Ohio no matter who the VP is. It is part of the rust belt that needs jobs. Trump is the candidate talking American jobs.

Please dont take this post as me being wantonly contentious.

I say that because I understand the emotional connection Donald has made with his followers.  In fact, I would even say he is my 'heart' candidate.

But my head tells me that all these 'laid off' people are quite used to their food stamps and Obama phones and other endless benefits.

Hillary represents the lifeline not being cut off.  It is also why I think Kasich has gone soft, since his budget days in the house.

So Kasich has probably earned his way on the ticket....

Just a little background because I'm not sure you were here when the anti-Trumps were castigating Trump for his lack of "conservative principles". I don't believe Kasich with his lack of "conservative principles" will bring in support that Trump doesn't already have.

Trump is talking all right.  He has no idea what to do, however.  His tariff plan will get shot down by Congress and he is not going to intimidate billion dollar businesses into bringing low paying jobs back into the United States.

It's a bit of a joke actually.

Roy Moore's "spiritual warfare" is driving past a junior high without stopping.

You can keep campaigning for Hillary. I'll  keep supporting a candidate who wants America to be great again and be No. 1.

Important to keep the emotions and the analysis separate, although the the emotions are part of the analysis!   :silly:

Trump is not a conservative, he is a populist. Cruz is a conservative.

But either Trump or Cruz will need someone less conservative on their ticket, or we wont get through Ohio.

Then it is hello Hillary.

Sounds like you are conceding he is not.

You have to admit Trump creates an exclusionary emotional bond with folks.

Walker/Trump or Cruz would all have been ok with me at the start of the primary season.

Walker is no longer around....

its the cult of personality and its like a drug.

when obama was running the first time I refused to listen to his speeches, instead reading transcripts.   they were ridiculous.  but people get caught up in the emotion of the speech instead of hearing what he is actually saying.

reading transcripts of trump speeches is kinda the same - they want to persuade by the power of their persona that they can do anything EVERYBODY wants.  at some events he even contradicts himself.

we've seen where that goes.  Congress wont pass his demands?  just write executive orders.

without someone FULLY devoted to the rule of law I fear that oval office pen is gonna get a hell of a workout....although with mcconnell and ryan in there it may be a cakewalk.

This is the most poignant post I have seen this month and maybe this year.

Even if Trump ends up on top of the ticket, Cruz would ground him.

Maybe Kasich could run council of Econ advisors or Treasury.

Not sure he could be trusted with HHS.

yeah, nothing is more depressing than watching the crazies falling for the pitch.

I agree, the rule of law, which Cruz exemplifies, would crush trump.

Oh, there's a job thats just PERFECT for kasich:  postmaster general.  if I hear that mailman story one more time.....

I have joked about that before.  We do need to kasich something big.  Ambassador to UK , Treasury, Council of econ advisors , etc)

I would not trust him at HHS or interior.

Well it looks like Ted could end up with 28 delegates, 27 of which he has endorsed, so the campaign should be following up like they did with you.

So dont pay attention to the polls, Donald might pile up votes in district 1, etc, but Ted can still win many delegates.

So your friends should be hopeful.  Will continue to update this thread by district tomorrow night, so keep checking back!

Based on the other thread, folks need to realize THEIR delegate that they vote for does the voting.   So voting by district is so important.

Ted has indiana nebraska washington and montana and SD

We shall see.

The system in PA does reward voters who do their homework.

Open primaries , while encouraging new supporters, also encourage strategic voting by the dems against us...

oh yeah, tomorrow will be the wailing & gnashing of teeth with voters calling in to the local radio show to complain that they were faced with a list of delegates but it doesnt say who they support next to their name and they wuz robed, Cruz stole their delegates.

I can see the new mantra.....Cruz did it.

Mr. Bush, you can finally retire.
