An example of how Ann Coulter is right: Media hiding illegal immigrant crime
By Lee Cary

The Dallas television affiliate of  CBS, owned and operated by the network, may have confirmed Ann Coulter’s claim, in Adios America, that the liberal media hides the truth about illegal immigrant criminals in America.

On March 20, 2016, Dallas TV channel 11 posted the story of a man arrested for holding a woman hostage in an abandoned building in Farmers Branch, Texas, a near northern suburb of Dallas.

“FARMERS BRANCH (CBSDFW.COM) – A woman in Farmers Branch, fearing for her life, calls police for help. But the subsequent standoff with police turned into something very different on Sunday morning.

According to the Farmers Branch Police Department, officers went to a building near the intersection of Belt Line Road and Marsh Lane after a 911 call was traced to the business, which is vacant and under renovation.

The female caller said she had assaulted and was being held inside the building against her will.

After an hours-long standoff with an unidentified suspect, police kicked in the door and found the woman locked inside a room. They also found a “maze” of a mess left by a man who had apparently been living inside of the empty medical office building.

It took hours of searching before officers found 56-year-old Javier Alfredo Leal hiding in the attic. Farmers Branch police Deputy Chief Mark Young said the discovery was the result of persistence. “We called him several times throughout the day… tried his cell phone and it was turned off. We knew he was there – it was just a matter of taking our time.”

Leal has a prior police history of domestic violence.  He has been charged with unlawful restraint, violating a protection order and breaking city codes for living in the vacant commercial building.

According to reports, workers at nearby businesses had told authorities that they noticed people coming and going from the business at all hours of the day.

Police are trying to contact the building owner and find out who has the right to be in the building.”

When queried as to the suspect’s nationality, the CBS11 reporter stated, via email, that “I was moved to another story before getting to that angle. Farmers Branch Police Dept. should be able to provide that to you.”

My subsequent request to the Farmers Branch Police Department concerning the suspect’s nationality yielded a response, from an attorney in the law firm representing the City of Farmers Branch, in the form of a “Responsive Document” indicating the suspect’s nationality as “MM.”

The attorney providing the document stated, in the accompanying email:

Please be advised that I have redacted some of the non-responsive information (driver’s license information, FBI number, and date of birth) because this information is confidential under law.  The attached arrest report indicates that Mr. Leal is a citizen of “MM,” which is Mexico.

Ann Coulter, in her book Adios, America, devotes Chapter 7 (“Immigrants and Crime: Why Do You Ask?”) to illustrating how the media frequently hides the truth of immigrant crime from its news-consuming public audiences.

So does this media coverage of a woman’s abduction further substantiate Coulter’s claim?

Furthermore, based on the suspect’s criminal history, why is he still in the United States?
