You know, that really sums it up - we need people who are allowed the privilege to vote to have experienced some sort of reality check.
The rule used to be free, white, 21, male, and a property owner.
(Free, as in not a slave)
I'd update that a bit, to American Citizen, taxpayer (as opposed to living on relief), and I'd be tempted to put the age back at 21, with an exception for active duty or military veteran. Yes, I'd exclude Felons who have not served out the terms of their sentence, but on having done so, I'd restore the Right to vote (and others, depending on the nature of their crime)..
