@Slide Rule I am GUESSING that a couple of reasons are we have no where to hold them while pending trial,and even trying to feed that many more prisoners may bankrupt the courts.
Then you have to add the cost of legal aid lawyers,additional judges,bailiffs,court cops,deputies to arrest them,cars to bring them to lock up,prisons to hold them,etc,etc,etc.
NOT saying that things can't BE done if the Dims and RINO's were willing to cut back on some of their pork projects and get smaller kickbacks,but what are the chances of THAT happening?
BUT........,having said all that,wouldn't it be a LOT cheaper to just hire a few more border patrol agent and finish building the damn wall on the border?
Granted,the fees will have to be met to deal with the ones already here,but I see that as money well-spent when you consider all the money it will save taxpayers in the immediate as well as the long-term future.
BUILD AND MAN THE DAMN WALL!
BTW,Trump was in the process of doing this when the RINO's helped their allies in the DNC defeat his second term.
