The Latest: Ryan 'laughed out loud' at Trump threat

 Mar. 3, 2016 12:46 PM EST

12:40 p.m.

House Speaker Paul Ryan says he "laughed out loud" when Donald Trump told the world this week that the Wisconsin Republican needs to get along with him or "pay a big price."

Ryan tells reporters that he was watching television in his office when Trump made his remark at a press conference Tuesday as he won seven GOP presidential primaries. The real estate magnate has built a decisive lead over his rivals, despite the antagonism of many party leaders.

Ryan says he laughed, adding, "sometimes, reality is stranger than fiction around here these days."

Trump didn't specify what he meant by the remark. Ryan says he doesn't know Trump well but that would change should Trump become the nominee.

The House speaker adds that he's "a good natured guy," and gets along with everybody.

Congress critters who defy the will of the voters tend to have short careers. I would not be so quick to laugh Speaker Ryan. Consider how you got the job.

Exactly.  Mr. Ryan would also do well to remember that other "Young Gun",  Mr. Cantor.   ^-^

Well, I'm not laughing at the threat.

There are too many options for Trump on this.  The easiest, and in my view, the most likely (given what happens at his rallies), is that he has the DHS guards at Congress leave early, while Congress is in session.  And a 'crazy' person shoots the place up.

People laughed until the night of the long knives, too.

When Trump wins this thing, there are a lot of people that are going to have to swallow a lot of very tough crow and figure out how to maintain their status.

Ryan won his House election in 2014 with 63% of the vote.

Trump is not going to win.  Not a chance. If 25-30% of GOP voters stay home or vote for somebody else, he loses all the blacks and 80% of the Hispanics, there aren't enough independents and moderates to make up the difference.

And if 30% gop voters stay home, then hillary wins.
But that is evidently what the gope wants anyway.

I cried out loud when GOoPer Ryan sided with more Democrats than Republicans while passing the Obama's Omnibus bill.

Ryan won his House election in 2014 with 63% of the vote.

Eric Cantor won the general win 2012 with 58% of the vote.

What that has to do with him losing a GOP primary only you know, I suppose.  I find your post irrelevant because Cantor didn't lose a general election.

Please explain what you mean by this.

There has been far too much violence and a 'get them' mentality at Trump rallies.  Trump channels that rage.

How hard would it be for Trump as President to direct an executive branch agency to change it's shift change time at the Capitol building?  Not that hard.

And how much of a leap is it for someone (like those that beat a homeless man bloody because of Trump's views on Mexican illegals) to then be egged into 'taking care of' those that Trump doesn't like?

Ryan will not lose in a primary.  Why wasn't he primaried this year?  Because nobody is going to challenge the Speaker of the House.

Cantor wasn't going to lose in a primary, either.

Still wondering what Ryan's general election victory has to do with Cantor losing a primary.

House Speaker Paul Ryan says he "laughed out loud" when Donald Trump told the world this week that the Wisconsin Republican needs to get along with him or "pay a big price."

Of course he laughed.

Considering "the price" he's been payin' to obama and the democrats, even Donald Trump couldn't extract more.
